When you study other country languages,what do you study them?

I want to know how to study languages.
When you study other country languages, what how do you study them?
I think it is different to get target each others. ? I'm not sure what you want to say here.
In my case, I study Japanese so listening to Japanese music and watching some Japanese shows actually helps because it makes you more familiar on their pronunciation.
Also studying the culture would also be a big help. ^^

In my case, I find that reading texts which are NOT written for foreigners help me a lot. I pick up expressions which are normally never taught to you in the classroom and textbooks, but I make sure to look them up first in a dictionary or Google.
Patience is necessary so that one does not become too excited and try to use too many new words at the same time.
