Musician interview

It is not an usual diary but pieces of my assignment about music.

I interviewed Joo-sukreol, a musician of Seoulmetro, on November, 29. After watching his performance, I approached him and asked if he could take a interview. He said yes shily.

At first, I thought it was difficult work to interview a musician because I didn't know any musician, so I didn't decide whom I should interview. However, I wanted to talk with Seoulmetro artists who I could approach easily and wondered how they felt. Therefore, I decide to interview one of them and chose Joo-sukreol because I didn't know well about his music and wanted to know more about him and his music.

He mainly sang folk songs which prevailed from 1960s to 1970s accompanying an acoustic guitar. His performance was really good because I saw him enjoying the music. He expressed his feeling with his body and face. Also, he made the dynamic performance in a free atmosphere so someone asked the musician to song his favorite song. After watching his performance, I rushed on him and asked him to talk with me. Actually I was shy but I pretended to be brave. It was a really good experience to speak to an unfriendly musician. I think it is because I have no stereotype about music and I am able to like various musics. While I was talking with him, I realized many things which I had not thought about. It was a very helpful time to me.

I believe I learned a lot from this interview not only about his musical view but also about his philosophy of life. He said that he had his own pace and color of life. A number of people follow the line which they should take in their age. They don't ponder on themselves and are easy to imitate others. I was not different from them and didn't think about that. But after talking with him, I have a chance to reconsider whether my life is going on my pace and I am trying to find my own color. He hoped I become a nice person and I decided to be a really good person at that time. To be a good person, I have to think everything deeply and reflect myself. I owe my professor thanks because she gave me a chance to learn the valuable things.
