I am an elite expatriate employees's wife
When my son was a kindergarten boy, some his classmates' parents left Japan for overseas assignment to Canada or England.
Before leaving Japan, my friends and I joined an English conversation school.
The teacher asked me, “Where are you going, Mika?”
To be honest, I joined the class just for fun but I accidentaly bluffed, “My family don't have any plans so far but we are going somewhere about in a couple of years.”
I asked my husband, “Make me an elite expatriate employee's wife! You should apply the position anywhere right now please!”
My husband said, “It's impossible, as you know my English is bad.”
It has been ten years since then, I still have been living in Yokohama city.
My friends already have come back to Yokohama from foreign countries.
They ask me with grinning, “Hey, when are you going overseas?”

I said him, “Practice makes perfect, You can do it!”
Thank you for your corrections.
My friends have already come back to Yokohama from foreign countries.
Japanese wives are not obedient anymore. maybe.
Thank you for your correction.
One of my Japanese friends said that many Japanese women who married to Indonesian men are very wicked and mean to their husbands.... (T__T)
I'm not sure this is universal, or it's just her opinion, because I often hear another way. There are so many powerful families who don't seem to mind if their children marry Foreigners from certain countries.
Because the economy is getting worse so we have a variety of thinking or opinion about families.
10-20 years ago, everybody think that overseas assignments equal elite office workers but the situation has been changing.
Thank you for your comment.
To be honest, In just joined the class just for fun but I accidentally bluffed, “My family don't have any plans so far but we are going somewhere about in a couple of years.”
My husband said, “It's impossible. As you know, my English is bad.”
It has been ten years since then and I am still living in Yokohama city.
Do you think it would be annoying?
10-20 years ago, it was a status of elite employees.
Aside from that, I wanted to live foreign countries but I prefer advanced countries. haha
Thank you for your corrections.
However I prefer going to new world than staying in small Japan.
^^
To be honest, I joined the class just for fun but I shamelessly fibbed, “My family don't have any plans so far but we will be going somewhere within the next couple of years.”
Ten years have slipped by since then, I'm still waiting and living in Yokohama city ;(.
They ask me with a smile, “Hey, when are you going overseas?”
My personarity hasn't changed at all.
Slipped by....It is interesting expresstion.
Thank you for your corrections.
Thank you for your comment.

A lot of Japanese senior citizens go abroad and live in foreign countries.
My sons are teenagers so I don't have enough money to go abroad but I want to live somewhere in future, this is my dream.
Thank you for your corrections.
I think many Japanese wives are in the same position you are in. The wives want to travel to other countries, but the husbands are not confident enough in their 2nd language skills, so the husband refuses to go.
Maybe when your sons are older and busy with their own lives, you and your husband can take more vacations together.
Some of my Japanese L-8 friends went to America or Spain without their husbands more than 2 weeks so I respect them, they are brave.
Yes, you will come to Japan, I am waiting for you.
