Japanese junior high school students have to take notes neatly.
The notes are judged by their teachers like A, B or C.
The students have to use a pencil or a mechanical pencil not a pen.
When they make mistakes, They have to correct using an eraser.
If they cross out or scratch out the mistakes, the teachers grade the note "C"
I talked with my two American friends about that.
It amazed them.
Mr. S said, "The note is private, why should they turn it in to the teachers very ofthen?"
Before turning it in, the students "EDIT" their notes using some color pencils or highliters.
Beautiful and showy notes can get a good evaluation.
I think it is wired.
What do you think about that my dear friends?
By the way, what kind of pens did you use at school?
Isn't the mechanical pen common in your country?
Those pictures are mechanical pencils.

Don't cross out or scratch out in your notes. Use only pencils in Japan
S said, "Notes are private, why should they turn it in to the teachers very often?"
I think it is weird.
I like using mechanical pencils. When I sat the JLPT last year, they said we couldn't use them. I don't know why. That meant I couldn't use my lucky Oguri Shun pencil and that is why I failed.
As I said, I took the TOEIC test last month, the answer sheet was a bubble sheet.
A simple pencil is the best for a bubble sheet.
Oh, I can help you to improve your Japanese anytime. ^^
Thank you for your corrections.
Thank you for your comment.

If you only have 2 American friends, ignore my correction. If you have more than 3, don't write "my" that way ; )
S said that the notes are private, so why should they be turned in to the teachers so often?
We don't use direct quotation naturally. It's not an error, just unnatural.
Before turning them in, the students "EDIT" their notes using some color pencils or highliters.
I think it is weird.
"wired" = has wires connected to it.
Isn't the mechanical pencil common in your country?
I think it is strange that the students are graded by how their notes look... the teacher would of course know students make them look pretty just for grading.
Grading notes forces students to study. It's bad for students, but good for their study. haha
But, the way the notes look is useless. It should be about the writing, not the colours. ^^;
Nonetheless, I am glad I never had to do that. lol
I sometimes fell it looks a military.
We are good at follow the rule, this is a good thing and a bad thing.
We don't say that the rule is weird and the teachers have strong power and high status.
Some of them are arrogant, I don't like them.
Thank you for your corrections.
But Onizuka was great. He was more casual and wanted students to enjoy learning. Hopefully I can be a teacher more like him. But not as violent. Hahaha
BUT, I've never met such kind of teachers!
I don't like female teachers, most of them are perfectionists and they are annoying for boys.
I have two lazy boys. (>_<)
Unfortunately she was only our teacher for 1 year, then we got a lazy Japanese lady as our teacher. She divided our class into the normal students and the "だめ students"!
She said I was one of the だめ students... But I refused to do the stupid people work and did the normal work. haha
Luckily she left after 2.5 years, then we got an Australian man as our Japanese teacher. I think he was my best Japanese teacher. He really loved Japanese, so he could make students love Japanese too. ^^
Yes, I saw a lot of bad teachers.
To encounter good teachers is very important.
Keep on studying Japanese.
The eraser doesn't work well.
I've heard Japanese stationery items are very good compared to other countries.
Do you think so?
My Bulgarian friend told me that mechanical pencils are not common there.
Thank you for your comment.
Speaking of the products on Germany, I like German cars.
The design is beautiful.
I used to have a secondhand BMW but I believe Japanese car's quality is excellent.
Now I love TOYOTA car.
Many knives? Wow! Your cooking must be excellent.
By the way, How much is your Staedler pen?
I am using a pen I bought 100-yen shop. haha
Yes Staedlers are expensive, 500-2000 yen. High end Mitsubishi and Pentels are about 1000 yen.
Thank you for your comment.
So sometimes I write sideways, upside down and on the back side too. I will have many arrows pointing to some notes that connect to other related notes.
In school, I was a diligent note taker (I took many notes.)
However, it was very messy, and probably I would the only person who could understand my notes.
We believe that good and neat notes related to good grade.
I agree and I disagree about that.
How rigid and stiff world at school in Japan!
