My husband and I went to Kyoto last month.
We visited some temples and shirines.
It was very hot that day.
I saw many Japanese women in formal clothes like lace blouses, skirts, high heels, and palasols.
I thought they will be able to go to a party immediately.
We had to climb many hills and stairs to go to temples.
They were too formal.
On the other hand, Westerners wore tank tops, shorts and flip-flaps for summer.
I don't think they would fit in the Japanese classy kaiseki restaurants.
They were too casual.
In my opinion, both of them were not appropriate to go to temples as tourists.
However It was very funny the difference of their clothes.
What do you think about that?

Using "would" instead of "will" makes it clear that this is an imaginary situation and that they are not likely to actually go to a party.
On the other hand, Westerners wore tank tops, shorts and flip-flops for summer.
I don't think they would fit in the classy Japanese kaiseki restaurants.
I don't think that there is a clear rule for what order to put adjectives in English, but "classy Japanese kaiseki restaurants" definitely sounds more natural than "Japanese classy kaiseki restaurants".
In my opinion, both of them were not appropriate to go to temples as tourists.
You can also say "Neither of them were appropriately dressed for going to temples as tourists."
However the difference between their clothes was very funny.
I've noticed that people dress more formally in Europe than in North America when they're strolling through the city. Of course, that could just be my imagination :)
I know "Neither of them" but when I wrote this entry, I completely forgot it, I was soooo stupid.
Speaking of Europe, I went to Paris long time ago.
I thought some eldely people wore bright color clothes.
They were beautiful.
Thank you for your corrections.
Maybe Japanese young people don't care but people in my age, I don't think it is good to go to temples and shrines.
I hope they wear short sleeve shirts instead of the tank-tops.
Thank you for your comment.
The shrine was near my son's school but far from my house. I thought it was a good opportunity but I gave up going up the slope under 鳥居 because I was wearing high heels. I though I would have another chance but I haven't. ^^;
Maybe I should have tried at that time.
あんまり関係ない話ですね。すみません。^^;
I lifted the heavy stone, I hope my wish comes true.
Do you think my opinion is too stiff?
I accept any ideas, could you tell me about that?
When people visit those places as holy spots it's good to wear proper clothes.
But for some people they are just sightseeing spots. And Buddha is very tolerant, I think. ;)
We visited some temples and shrines.
In my opinion, both of them were not dressed appropriately to go to temples as tourists.
What do you think about this?
Sorry, I shouldn't belittle foreign culture. :P
Wait a minute!
American people use a dryer or air conditioner without hesitation.
I don't think that their outfit relates to クールビズ. haha
Thank you for your corrections.
I thought they could to go straight to a party.
I think this sounds more natural if you mean they look like they could go to a party after visiting the temples.
I think many Western tourists dress badly in Japan. I see so many people in trainers. I don't think you should wear them unless you are going to the gym.
Flip-flops are also bad. My sister wore them a lot when she visited and I was horrified because she'd take them off and put her feet on the furniture! Maybe I have been in Japan too long :)
先日はほんとうにたのしかった、ありがとう。
Maybe I have been in Japan too long
Ahaha You exactly had experienced Japanese life and culture in good points and bad points.
In many countries you can't visit Buddist temples with bare shoulders.
Yes, I think people should have such a common sense.
I saw young Japanese woman also visit 伊勢神宮 with bare shoulders.
しばらくはゆっくりやすんでくださいね。
Thank you for your correction.
Also, some Japanese people may worry too much about their perception to others.
It may be because of cultural or just the individual's own character.
Basically she doesn't like casual style and she always wear formal type of outfit.
So she can go to the fancy restaurants with her everyday clothes but she wants to dress up when she goes to the restaurants. Too much luggage.(>_<)
May I ask you a question?
What does "neck down" mean?
Is it a tank top or bare shoulder?
I would hope Fundosi in Japanese is prohibited.
