A lot of Japanese people post pictures of their meals on their blogs.
This is my American friend's question to me.
I understand that people like to take pictures of their meals on their vacation especially in foreign countries.
However why do Japanese people take photos of the lunch meal such as soba or sandwich in their daily life?
In my case, before eating the meal, I'm occupied with the meal just in front of me.
I don't come up with thinking to take pictures at all so I don't know why.
What do you think about that?
Is it weired to post their daily meal on their brog or Twitter?

Oh, you noticed that?
I'm afraid I don't have Facebook account but Japanese people post their normal meals on Facebook, too? haha
Are those simple riceballs? :P
Thank you for your corrections.

Do only Japanese people do such things?
I suppose it's depends on the person. If people are interested in cooking or food, they want to share the photos with some people.
I take some photos at the restaurant too, but I forget to take photos when I'm very hungry. lol
This is very normal because these are kind of art.
However a lot of Japanese people post, "this is today's lunch in Starbuks" haha
Thank you for your corrections.
This is my American friend's question to me.
However why do Japanese people take photos of their lunch meal when it's just as soba or a sandwich in their daily life?
Some mothers take photos of that everyday.
This must be their pleasure.
With different girls nearly everyday?
Is he good-looking or very rich? haha
Thank you for your corrections.
He is good looking. When we met him, we took photos of us drinking together too :)
In Australia that's not common unless you are planning to keep meeting up with someone.
Hahaha
I think some people show off on Facebook"I have many many friends, I'm very popular among my friends"
They try to compete the number of friends on Facebook.
I know the woman who doesn't have real friends but she has MANY friends on Facebook.
When some Japanese companies hire some employees, they check the candidates' Facebook.
The reason is Facebook shows the candidates are sociable and they have many friends.
Do you agree with them?
* does this person say bad things about their current job?
* do they update their facebook a lot during work hours?
* do they have too many photos of themselves out drinking... then having a sick day from work the next day!
I think if people put information on facebook where everyone can see it then of course employers are going to look at it. You have to be very careful about the information you make public about yourself.
My facebook information is so private that sometime, when I want to show photos or friend someone and I'm not logged in, I can't even find it myself!
I didn't know that.
Oh, I got it, so some Japanese companies must have started check it.
Facebook users have to upload their false good behavior? haha
I notice that all the time.
I always wonder why that is.
I think most Americans would be embarrassed if they showed everyone what they ate because it probably was not healthy food.
I think Japanese and Americans look at food very differently. I want to study more about this.
As you know, I don't like cooking but I cook everyday.
My recipe is little.
Poor my family but they like meat, meat and meat instead of delicate meals, it's gonna be OK. Maybe (^_^;)
Thank you for your comment.
I know my brother has taken pictures of his food before.
He has also posted entries on this site about his food.
He told that Japanese people don't talk anything in public but they like to show their opinions in writing on Facebook, Twitter or blogs.
I was very curious about that.
Thank you for your comment.
On the other hand people in young generation or sociable people use Facebook without hesitation.
In my opinion, some of them are sociable and talkative on SNS but they are very quiet face to face.
Usually it's easier for me to have a conversation with someone online than in person, unless it is somebody who is a good friend already.
By the way, do you use Facebook?
If you want to speak Japanese, I'll tell you my Skype ID anytime!
Since my computer doesn't work I have to use my brother's laptop which doesn't have skype on it.
I can use skype on my psp, but I can't text chat, I can only voice chat on it.
And sorry for not correcting now. I will do it a bit later tonight when I'm more free. ^^
It's not a serious problem but some people may think the shutter sound is annoying.
I want to enjoy the atmosphere instead of taking pictures of the food.
Thank you for your comment.
Thanks to you, we enjoyed the London Olympics so much.
it's just a certain type of person.
Yes, they may not be lazy so they can upload their photos frequently including food photos.
I always concentrate on my meal in front of me, I'm くいしんぼう1.
Thank you for your comment.
I think I'm also 食いしん坊, it's not a bad thing, right? hahaha. I download an application called "Evernote Food" http://bit.ly/Oma1yr . Maybe this will help us :)
Speaking the Olympics, The UK is the birthplace of some sports so I've heard that audience of the Olympics were good manner.

I think many of the photos are taken with their phone, so it could be done quietly without looking like someone taking a photo of their food. haha
I've never taken a photo of my food before. Some friends wanted to see the food I cook before, but if they want to see I can just cook for them some time. lol
Aside from taking food photos, I insist people are addicted to their phone.
Thank you for your corrections.
My phone doesn't get many messages or calls. So it mainly stays in my pocket. lol
その食べ物に焦点を当てているわけですよね。
でもそうじゃなくて、単に「今日のランチで~す」というのが、アメリカ人の彼には不思議なようです。笑
Thank you for your comment.
Because of the internet and website like Yelp, a lot of people are discovering the joy of eating, so they like to share it with everyone and meet other people who do that. =)
For example, some couples use their phone separately during the date.
Less conversation but too much use their phone. Mmmm
Thank you for your comment.
