I tried to enter two words in the serch engine, “Bitch, I can't catch”
Can you believe it? I got it!
The slang was “Son of a bitch” yes, this is it!
On the web page, some Japanese people like me wrote that I couldn't catch the slang "○○ ○○ bitch"
It's funny, isn't it?
I know it is a curse but I'm feeling good.

私はフラストレーションがたまっていた、だって私の好きなアメリカのドラマ「デスパレートハウスワイブス」のスラングが聞き取れないからだ。
そのスラングを三回も聞いたが、俳優たちはそのスラングを言うときはとても早口だし怒鳴っている。
私は二つの言葉を入れてネットで検索した。「bitch, 聞き取れない」
信じられる？　わかったよ！
そのスラングはSon of a bictch　そうそう、それなのよ。
そのウェブページには、私と同じ悩みの日本人がこう書いていた。「なんとかビッチというスラングが聞き取れません」
笑っちゃうでしょ？
これが悪い言葉だと知っているけど、ああすっきりした。

It is designed based on kanji "神"
However in my opinion, I only regard it as boobs.
I call it ”Oppai mark”

漢字の「神」をデザイン化したものです。

On top of that, they told me Japanese people are quite shy and reserved.

They like sending their pictures a lot, to be honest, I was not interested in them.
Some of them didn't have girlfriend and they wanted to have a girlfriend.
I thought, “You are self-centered and too talkative so girls hate such an attitude.”
I was tired of them and I quit that.
We value to listen to someone without interuppting them.
We sure have own opinion.
Now I have true some non-Japanese friends and most of them are learning Japanese.
They understand my conversation style and I believe we usually have nice conversation.

As you know Japan is safe country relatively so I think some people are insensitive about the personal distance.
My American friend told me that the personal distance of Japanese people are closer than that of American people.
I was very surprised to hear that.
People in Western countries shake hands, hug and kiss a lot so I thought they are not care about the personal distance.
However these are only things of the close relationships.

I don't have any friends here because here is car society, people use their cars whenever they go.
When I go to my friends' home, it takes one hour by a car.
When my family goes to our relative home, it takes five hours by a car.
My home town is Seoul, public transportation is convenient and I am not good at driving a car.
Anyway it's tough for me to ride a car for such a long time.
I am getting lazy and I usually stay at home recently.

I miss Korean food.
My husband and his parents love fast and fatty meal, Korean and Japanese people are health conscious, I don't want to eat them.

I want to live in America a couple of years but I understand her feelings well.

When I was twelve years old, I started studying English at school.
Most of my classmates had never studied English and we don't have a native English speaker's teacher at that time.
Our first English teacher who was Japanese middle aged woman spoke Tohoku dialect.
Tohoku is Northern part of Japan.
She read an English text book with strong Tohoku accent.
All students thought this was not real English pronunciation.
We lost our interest in English soon, that's a sad story, isn't it?

私は日本語の方言が好きです、なぜなら温かみがあるからです。
でもこれが英語の発音となると別です。

私が12歳の時、学校で英語の授業が始まりました。
ほとんどの子が英語を習ったことがなく、当時はネイティブもいませんでした。
最初の英語の先生は中年の日本人女性で東北訛りがありました。
東北とは日本の北の地方です。
彼女は強い東北弁で英語の教科書を読みました。
みんなこれは本物の英語じゃないと思ったものです。

This is the story I've heard from an Australian man.
Before coming to Japan, he heard there were few gays in Japan.
However when he came to Japan for the first time, he thought there were a lot of gays here.
Japanese men wore tight jeans, T-shirts, hats and jewels.
They were very fashionable such as hair style and expensive shoes.
They trimmed their eyebrows.
However after that, he realized they were not gays, they were just fashion-concious.

While I was listening to it I wanted to advise him, “You should be careful about your appearance.”
He are not interested in his clothes so he always wears the same shirt and has a weird backpack.
You are tall, dress up more. haha


これはオーストラリア人の男性から聞いた話です。
彼が日本に来る前、ここにはゲイはほとんどいないと聞いていました。
しかし彼が初めて日本に来た時、ゲイばかりじゃないかと思いました。

We didn't see any cars there certainly but the road was wide so no wonder to stop there for me.
When I cross very narrow roads, I sometimes ignore red lights.
However if children are right there, I always stop at a red light.
I don't know the children but adults have to be role models for all children.
Some my foreigner friends praised Japanese people for the good driving manners.
They told me that road rages happen a lot in their countries.
However some people in city areas in Japan started to go to work or school by bicycle so bad manners of them are becoming serious problem recently.

アメリカ人の友人と私が広い道路を渡ろうとしましたが、赤信号だったので私は立ち止まりました。。
彼は「僕は車が来ない時は赤信号でもいつも道路を渡るよ」と言いました。
たしかに車は走っていなかったけど、広い道路なので立ち止まるのは私にはあたりまえでした。
狭い道路だったら、私もたまに赤信号を無視することがあります。
でもそこに子供がいたら、私は赤信号を守ります。
その子供は他人だけど、大人は子供たちの良いお手本にならなければいけないからです。
外国人の友人たちは、日本人の車の運転のマナーの良さをほめてくれました。
彼らの国では運転中の揉め事は良くあることだそうです。
しかし都市部の人たちが職場や学校に自転車で行くようになり、彼らのマナーの悪さが問題になってきています。

Japanese buffet restaurants have a time limit sush as 70 minutes or 90 minutes but the restaurants in America usually don't have it.
The plates size in America are three times as large as the plates in Japan.
According to them, Japanese people are very kind, restaurants and shop staffs provide very good services.
The Malaysian friend paid cashire, he came back to us with excitement.
He said, “Can you believe that? The cashire told me “Thank you very much” six times!
However a lot of Japanese customers don't say anything to the shop keepers.
My friends always said, “Thanks” in Japanese to the shop keepres.
However Japanese service industories sometimes are inflexible to the customers.
I don't understand why we can't change from a cup of coffee to a glass of orange juice for lunch.

アメリカ人とマレーシア人の友人と私は東京の食べ放題のお店のランチに行きました。
彼らはアメリカと日本のビュッフェの違いについて話してくれて、それがとてもおもしろかった。
日本の食べ放題は70分とか90分とか時間制限があるけどアメリカにはあまりないそうです。
お皿の大きさは日本の物の3倍くらいあるってさ。
日本人はとても親切でレストランやお店の店員の接客はとてもいいそうです。
マレーシア人の友達がレジに支払いに行って興奮して戻ってきました。
「信じられる？レジの子がありがとうございますって6回も言ったよ！」
でも多くの日本人の客は店員に何も言いません。
私の友人たちはいつも「ありがとう」と日本語で店員に言っていました。
でも日本のサービス業は融通がきかないったらないよね。
ランチのコーヒーがなんでオレンジジュースに変えられないのかわかりません。

Ａさんは風邪をひいて咳がひどかったのです。

My American friend is coming to Japan soon.
My husband and I went shopping to look for some gifts for him.
He likes kanji so I want to give something printed kanji.
My husband shouted, “I found a fundoshi! It is a Japanese traditional underwear and it is printed kanji.”
Fundoshi is an Japanese men's underwear made of a long cloth.
It was printed ”突撃”, it means rush.
However nowadays there are fewer opportunities such as festivals to put them on.
I rejected his idea.
I don't want to my American friend to think I am a pervert.
If you receive Japanese souveniors, what would you want?

アメリカ人の友達がもうすぐ日本に来ます。
夫と私は彼へのプレゼントを買いに出かけました。
彼は漢字が好きなので漢字が書かれたものをあげたいな。
夫が「ふんどしがあった、日本の伝統的な下着だし漢字つきだよ。」
ふんどしは男性用の下着で長い布でできています。

しかし最近は祭り以外では身につけることもありません。

最近、J-popの歌詞にメイクラブという言葉を頻繁に聞きます。
子供たちはその言葉の意味を知らないから、メイクラブとなんの躊躇もなしに大声で歌っています。
なんだかハラハラしてしまいます。
ネイティブがこういう歌を聞くと、make loveはsexと連想するんでしょうか？
彼らは性的に露骨な歌詞だと思うのでしょうか？

By the way, Japan's national team of water polo was named “Poseidon Japan”
As you know, Poseidon is the god of the sea in Greek myths.
Why didn't they name Ninja is well known in the world?

私は彼女の日本語は間違っていると思った。
「彼は忍者が好きです」って言いたかったんでしょ？

ご存知のとおり、ポセイドンはギリシャ神話の海の神である。

My apartment has 200 hundreds family units.
When I pass someone here, I say “Good morning.”
However some persons just nod without saying anything.
I don't like their attitude but this is the one of typical Japanese style.
For example, when the teachers ask to the students, “Do you understand what I mean?”
The students nod in agreement without saying anything.
I value greeting, smile and eye-contact but a lot of Japanese people especially young people speak without face expressions.
They are creepy.

私の住むマンションは世帯数が200ほどある。
人とすれちがうとき私は「おはようございます」と言う。
しかし何も言わず会釈だけする人もいる。
私はこういう態度がきらいだ、でもこれは典型的な日本人スタイルでもある。
例えば先生が生徒に「わかりましたか？」と聞く。
生徒たちはわかったと何も言わずにうなづく。
私は挨拶と笑顔とアイコンタクトは大事だとおもうが多くの日本人、特に若い人は無表情で話す。
これは不気味だ。

More than 80% of Westerners who I met had in common.
I want to submit the report to the something global food association.
When they talked about ice cream or chocolates, they showed dreamy look on their faces with closing their eyes and said, “Yummy!”
Next they started to insist on the superiority of their favorite ice cream or chocolates, for example, “This is the best in the world!”
Haven't you eaten all of ice cream or chocolates in the world yet?

私の出会った欧米人の８０％以上に共通点があった。
どこかの世界的な食べ物の協会にレポート提出したいくらいだ。
彼らはアイスクリームかチョコレートの話をするとうっとりと目を閉じて「Yummy!」と言うのだ。
そしてそれがどれだけおいしいか力説しだすのだ。「世界一だよ。」
世界中のアイスやチョコをまだ食べてないでしょうが。
これっておもしろいでしょ？
