Love is not synergistic

「愛情とは、１＋１＝２ではなく０.５＋０.５＝１である。なぜなら、お互いに一歩譲ることこそが愛情なのだから。」
"Love means not 1 + 1 = 2, but 0.5 + 0.5 = 1.
Because it should be the time just to step back each other."
これは、ある友人の日記の言葉。
This sentence was written in a my friend's article.
目から鱗でした。これまでは、互いに高め合うという、相乗効果にの事ばかり考えていました。
Then I found another light, untill now I have just thought a synergistic effect which means 1 + 1 = 3, 4, ... to improve each other, to do what we can't do alone.
一歩引いてお互いを受け入れる、素晴らしい考えだと思いました。
taking a step back and accepting the other there - It is a splendid idea.
これは愛情だけに限らないでしょう。人との付き合い方、少し見直してみようと思いました。
This idea would be fitted only to Love. I will review how to deal with other people.

This sentence [or: "expression"] was written in a my friend's article. [I would write: "A friend of mine wrote this in his journal entry."]
Then I found another light, Scales fell off my eyes. Uuntill now, I have just thought a love was synergistic, effect which meansing 1 + 1 = 3, 4, ... or more.
I thought love caused one to improve each other the one he loves, and to gain strength to do what we he can't do alone.
"Ttaking a step back and to accepting the other" there - It I think this is a splendid idea meaning of love.
(I believe) tThis idea would be fitted is not limited only to Llove (however).
I will review reflect on how I ought to deal with others people at all times.
