Yesterday, I went to an English chat-room, which an Australian English- teacher holds once a week at his school.
There were six Japanese people, including me, and the teacher.
It was a rude awakening when I realized I couldn't speak English as well as I had thought. It took me a while to construct sentences and come up with words. I stumbled over words and phrases. At last, I chose to just be a listener in the group, which I do not prefer to do in English practicing places.
After leaving the school, I realized that my stumbling was a result of slacking off on my studies. Although a couple of months ago, I had decided to read articles aloud every morning, it ended up quitting only after a few weeks.
Now, I can't ignore sayings such as: "Your effort will pay off" and "Your effort will be rewarded." These sayings sometimes sound too good to be true for me to believe, but I should know they are true.
After some self-searching, I luckily had a chance to meet one of my friends who has kept up with reading aloud for a long time. She is truely an inspiration to me on my study.
Today, I once again decided to read aloud every morning!!!
I wonder what the result will be like...

Naranja,
Thank you very much for your thoughtful comment!!!
I feel that an input study and an output study are different things. I wish I could speak as well as I write. When I write, there are some good helpers for me, like enough time and my dictionary!
I am looking forward to reading your next journal!

Thank you for your corrections and comment!!!
I learned a new phrase "go down the toilet" from your comment. I am now repeating saying it. Some day, I will be able to use it freely!
Thank you!

Yesterday, I went to an English chat-room spoken in English, which an Australian English- teacher holds once a week at his school.
It was a rude awakening when I realized I couldn't speak English as well as I had thought.
In the end, I chose to be just a listener in the group, which I never like to do in English practicing places.
After leaving the school, I realized that it was as a result of slacking off in my studies.
Although a couple of months ago, I decided to read articles aloud every morning, I ended up being a quitter after only for a few weeks.

Reading aloud is still a kind of passive learning exercise (like listening).
