I usually drive, but once in a blue moon I need to use a bus.

One day, I went downtown by bus, which takes about 40 minutes from my place. I'm thrilled to do something unusual, so that day was no exception.

After I finished my errands and I happily bought 5 doughnuts at a doughnut shop in front of the bus-stop, I got on a bus to get back home.

But you know, it is only natural that when I'm chilling out and feeling nice and relaxed, I also feel a wave of drowsiness. You can guess what happened.

Of course, I missed my stop.

When I woke up, I realized that the bus was in a garage! I forced my eyes to open and looked around my seat. Nobody was there! Oh. My God!...but, wait! Wait...I could see cigarette smoke rising around the driver's seat. Thank goodness! The driver was smoking after his day's work.

I stood up suddenly. The driver looked at me with blank surprise. He said to me, "why are you here?" I said, "I don't know." I was embarrassed and rushed to get off the bus.

The driver asked me where my house was. I was too embarrassed to have a conversation with him, but anyway I answered where I should've gotten off. I started walking without knowing where I actually was or which way I should go.

The bus driver was kind enough to follow me with his big bus, and he told me that he would take me to my place. It was evening, and I don't remember how I felt at the time. I must have had mixed feelings; both relief and shame.

When the bus pulled over at my place, I said to him, "thank you very much," and handed one doughnut out of the box to him, and rushed to get off the bus.

Several months later, I realized that I should've paid him for the bus fare! I left him without paying a penny! I also regret that I gave him only one doughnut while holding the other four in my hand!

lol

I wanted to say,「気持ちのいい、しずかな 揺れ」 hahaha, 意味不明? I coined the phrase!

Yeah~ Maybe it was better for me to be laughed! hahaha

Did you see that some drunken men were sleeping on a train or at a train station in Japan? I wonder why Japanese thieves wouldn't steal their purses from them? ! haha
It might be easier..

Maybe... "But you know, it's only natural that when I'm chilling out and feeling nice and relaxed, I also feel a wave of drowsiness."

I had to look up "soporific" in the dictionary, lol.

"Several months later, I realized that I should've paid him for the bus fare!"

I think this sounds better in the context of the story, though it's not an accurate translation.

I fell asleep on the train too! I actually enjoyed the fact that I could do that without worrying =)

Before I left Japan, I was at the airport for a long time and I was able to sleep peacefully before my flight. That was really something...

I know how you felt there!

Thank you for teaching these!!! I appreciate that!

Thank you very much for correcting this. My sentence tends to be too wordy. I really appreciate that you made it simple. And you did some other sentences too. Thanks!

Feb 03rd 2012 22:56 Treehugger
Haha, one of the golden rules of English: don't change your style mid-sentence. I actually thought you were subtly testing us to see which word we would accept. That is what I would do, at least. :P

That's a great story! It's odd that none of the other passengers noticed you and woke you up at the last stop. I think if I saw somebody sleeping at the last stop I'd at least mention it to the driver...

Good thing the driver was so nice. I hope he enjoyed his doughnut (^_-)

I think so too, why none of them woke me up? They were just being polite trying to be quiet~ lol

Thank you for your corrections!!!

How'd you explain the missing doughnut to your family?
Feb 05th 2012 13:29 mirai
hahahaha, I was not able to tell the story to anyone at the time, even to my family~ haha, I was really a secret person! I was about to be stuck the whole night in the bus...or 2 days, I don't know.

It's good that I can talk about it as a funny story!

By the way, thank you so so so so much for taking time to check my English!!!

Let's English and Japanese battle again if you like! It was a good speaking-practice for me.

Good Night and an Pleasant Dreams!

Treehugger,Hello!

Feb 14th 2012 21:36 mirai
Okey dokey!!!

I pronounced them like "dowsiness" and "dahnut", now I knew how to pronounce them!

I was listening to your recording without reading...then, the story sounds really funny. hahaha I bet you are a better actor than Joey in "Friends"!!! Joey wants to be an actor, you know?

How YOU doin'!!! >It's his way to seduce girls! lol

I'm a Friends-otaku, but not "moe"~~
