How have you been spending your Christmas holiday?
Here in Japan, the period of celebrating and decorating for Christmas is very short, which was over on the 25th.
I changed the decorations in my house for New Year's Day so as to lift up my spirit for the day. I've finished hand-writing around 70 New Year's cards, which is an annual big job, so I am relieved.
Now it's time to consider what my New Year's Resolution will be. Come to think of it, my resolution was all related to English-learning in the last five years.
I wonder what it will be next year. If that tells you anything, the last New Year's Resolution of mine was to write in a diary in English!
I almost achieved it by having your mammoth help! (^^) Thank you so much!!!

If that tells you anything, the last New Year's Resolution of mine was to write in a diary (something tells me that you mean "journal," not "diary") in English!
I almost achieved it by having your mammoth help! (I've never heard "mammoth" as an adjective except in a metaphorical sense.)
Japan sounds wonderful. No marketing of a religious holiday. Westerners have ruined the holiday not only with marketing, but politics (some of the politics finds itself outside of rational reasoning).
Hm, maybe i should write new years cards to people on Mixi. XD
Thank you for your corrections and comment!!!
Around this time last year, I made up my mind to write in a diary in English in my notebook; while I accidentally found "Lang-8" and tried writing a jounal! I account myself fortunate!
From outside, your Christmas in America looks romantic and beautiful to me...
The commercialization has lead to the secularization of it. As tempting as a gift-receiving season is, the religious aspects often make it less palatable to the more secular people (though, most atheists have no problem with the religious aspect: it's only a select few which make up a loud minority), so there's been campaigns to rename it. Consequently, religious tensions in the country are more significant than usual around Christmas time (this has only started a few years ago, though). Fortunately, this year has been alot better. Walmart, trying to make up for it's mistakes previous years (telling employees that they could say "anything other than 'Merry Christmas'"), put up a great big "Merry Christmas" banner at the entrances this year.
Despite all the problems, Christmas, and it's accompanying holiday Easter, can be quite beautiful and wonderful. If you're looking for romance, however, try Valentine's Day.
No, I'm not looking for romance. I am just satisfied with the feeling of romance on Christmas.

I've finished handwriting around 70 New Year's cards in handwriting, which is an annual big job, so I am relieved. (just suggestions)
If that tells you anything, the last New Year's Resolution of mine was to write in a diary in English! (I think of a "diary" as private and a "journal" as something that can be shared with others, but that's just me)
Now I'm really curious what your new year's resolution will be ^^;
Thank you for your corrections and comment!!!
I might write about my new year's resolution some day!
I'm curious about yours too!!! (^^)
I have also considered doing a "resolution a month" ...
Anyways I'm looking forward to reading your entry when you decide on your resolution. ^_^
