    <title>Masamune : "「ぬ」+「い」= 「に」" and "「に」+ 「て」= 「で」" (2)</title>
      <description><![CDATA[

This is just my original hypothesis.<br />A particle に consists of:<br /> an old fashioned auxiliary verb ぬ which means "some action has completed,"<br />and<br /> an old fashioned verb ゐ（い）which means "to sit"<br /><br />If my hypothesis is true,<br />the particle に means like this;<br />"some action has completed, and then, it is still sitting, or is going to be sitting,  there."<br /><br />Hmmm, I think it's a good way of thinking.<br /><br />(ex1)三時になります(It's three o'clock)<br />なります has completed and it is still sitting at 三時.<br /><br />(ex2)東京に行きます(I will go to Tokyo）<br />行きます(To go) has determined (by me) and it is going to be sitting at Tokyo.  <br /><br />You might notice that as soon as the hip of the action touches the preceding noun such as 三時 or 東京, the act of "sitting" is carried out.<br />It means that the action can touch the chair but cannot go through it.<br />If you use a particle を after some direct object of an action, such as,<br /><br />(ex3) 家を出ます(to get out of the house)<br />(ex4) 道を歩きます(to walk on the road)<br />(ex5) パン屋さんの前を通り過ぎます(to pass in front of the bakery) <br />(ex6) ごはんを食べます(to eat some food)<br /><br />You'll see that all of those actions can go through the direct objects,<br />and that is the points of their accomplishments.<br />So the linguists consider that the particle を indicates "process".<br /><br />Well, anyway, the accomplish point of the particle に is that "as soon as the action touches the threshold of the preceding noun of に."<br /><br />Now, let me move on to a particle て.<br />This one is also my original hypothesis.<br />Here is the definition of the particle て：<br />"to activate some action and leave it on (active)."<br /><br />(ex7)座っています(someone is sitting)<br /><br />= Someone activates the action "sit" and leave it on.<br /><br />Hmmm, this one is good too.<br /><br />Okay, now we are going to move on to a particle で.<br /><br />The particle で consists of a particle に and a particle て, this is the official analyzing made by scholars.<br />So I will follow them, and let's see what happens.<br /><br />(1) There is some action.<br />(2) As soon as the action touches the threshold of the preceding noun of に, it is accomplished.<br />(3) The speaker said to the doer of the action, "why don't you activate that action, which is going to be accomplished as soon as its hip touches the threshold of the noun, and leave it on?"<br /><br />The doer asked, "how can I leave it on?"<br /><br />The speaker answered, "Just use the noun as a launching pad of the action, so the action can leave the noun with the condition of the "on"!<br /><br />(ex8) はさみで切る(Cut something with scissors)<br />(ex9) 地下鉄で行く(to go to someplace by subway)<br />(ex10) あなたでいい (you? okay, no problem)<br /><br />Be careful boys and girls.<br />If someone says to you like this;<br />私でいいのですか？(Are you sure I am okay for your date?)<br /><br />Never, ever answer like this;<br />あなたでいいよ(You? okay, no problem)<br /><br />You should say like this; <br />あなたがいいんです！(Only you that I want to date with)<br /><br /><br />Hehe.<br /><br />Although it's just an "add-hoc" hypothesis,<br />I'm sure that it can help you to learn Japanese particles. <br /><br /><br />Bye^^<br /><br />Masamune<br /><br />   <br /><br />

part of predicative words, but as a subject, object, or modifier, what shall we do?<br /><br /><br />********************************************<br /><br />これが漢字学習者の頭を一番悩ませる問題だと思います。<br />***　I think this is the most annoying problem that puzzles kanji-learners' brains.<br /><br />そこで、ちょっと、英語の場合を考えてみましょう。<br />***　Then let's think about English cases for a while.<br /><br /><br /><br />(A) the USA = the United States of America<br />(B) the UN = the United Nations<br />(C) We made a united effort to help him.<br />(D) We made a U effort to help him (⇒incorrect use of U).<br /><br /><br /><br />どうして（D)の場合のUの使い方は間違いなのでしょうか？<br />***　How come the U in the case of (D) is incorrect?<br /><br />それを理解するには、このように考えるのがいいかもしれません。<br />***　In order to under stand it, it might be helpful for you to think this way.<br /><br />（A)や（B)の場合は、「united」 という単語が刻印されたLEGOブロックとしてUを使っている。<br />***　As to the U in (A) and the U in (B), U is used as a Lego block which is printed a word "united." <br /><br />（C)（D)の場合、見ればわかるように、その文脈の中で使われている「united」という単語は、LEGOブロックとしてUを使うほどには、自己完結をしていない。<br />***　As you see in the case of (C) and (D), the word "united" dose not have self-completion enogh to be used like U as a Lego block. <br /><br /><br />あるいは、また、<br />３D＝three dimensional<br />のように、それを容易に連想させるような文脈の中では、イニシャルが単独でLEGOブロックとして使える単語もあります。<br />***　On the other hand, D as in "3D(=three dimensional," you can use its initial like a Lego block, if you use it in a context of guessing the connection easily.<br /><br /><br />漢字の音読みは、それらと同じように、「ある文脈において、LEGOブロックとして漢字を使っている」と考えることができます。<br />***　As for On-reading of Kanji, it is the simmilar thing.<br />***　You can consider On-reading to be like this: "A kanji is used as a Lego block in a certain context."<br /><br /><br /><br />ところが、ここでまた、問題があります。<br />***　Now, here is where we should tacle another problem.<br /><br />「愛」<br />のように単独でもLEGOブロック（＝音読み）として使えるものがありますし、<br />***　"愛 /ai/," for example, you can use it as a standing alone Lego block (with On-reading), <br /><br />「山」<br />のように単独ではLEGOブロック（＝音読み）としては使えないものもあります。<br />***　while "山 /san/ or /zan/ (with On-reading)" cannot be used as an independent Lego block without other Lego block companies.<br /><br />したがって、山は単独では「やま（＝訓読み）」としてしか読めません。<br />***　Therefore all you can read it, "山", is /yama/ with Kun-reading. <br /><br />なぜでしょう？<br />***　Why?<br /><br />実は、はっきりと、確定したセオリーはないんです。<br />***　Actually, there is no determinate theory about it,<br /><br />でも、これは私の個人的な意見ですが、おそらくは、こういうことではないでしょうか。<br />***　but in my personal opinion, I think the things are probably like this:<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />「愛」/a,i/<br />***　"love"<br /><br />「愛」はもともと「めづ」や「めぐむ」という動詞の一部（＝語幹）に、同じ意味を表わすものとして、「書き」表すために、あとから当てはめられた漢字です。<br />***　"愛 /a,i/" is a kanji which was adopted as a stem of a verb "me-zu" or "megu-mu" afterward, to express the same meaning of them in "writing." <br /><br />そのように書き表わされた動詞の一部であった愛という漢字が名詞としての独立を果たすにつれて、音読みの「あい」が普通名詞として認められるようになっていったのではないかと僕は想像しています。<br />***　 I am guessing that as the noun of kanji 愛 had accomplished its independence from the spelling of the verb, the on-reading "ai" had come to be accepted as a noun in general.   <br /><br />というのは、「めづ」の連用名詞「めで」は単独で用いられることが少なく、むしろ、古文語の形容詞「めでたし」の語幹の一部として使われることが多かったからでしょう。<br />***　That's because "me-de", a renyo-meishi of "me-zu", was rarely used by itself, it would rather often be used as a part of the stem of a literary old style -i-adjective "me-de-ta-shi."<br /><br />だから、単独で名詞として使えるものとして、音読みの「あい」が普及していったのではないでしょうか。<br />***　Therefore please let me guess that's why the On-reading "ai" had come to be spread and popular as an independent noun, <br /><br />だって、そのような音読み名詞は、いろいろな複合名詞を作る上で、とても便利ですからね。<br />***　because an On-reading noun like that is very useful to make various kinds of combined noun.<br /><br />（例）恋愛、家族愛、人類愛 etc.<br />***　(ex.) ren-ai (romance, or love in romantic way), ka-zoku-ai (love for family), jin-rui-ai (love for humanity) etc. <br /><br />その音読み名詞「愛」に、さらに「する」が付け足されて、「愛する」という動詞が作られると、大和言葉の「めづ」という動詞の代わりに広く使われるようになっていったのではないかと僕は考えています。<br />***　Then, I also guess like this; when a verb "suru" was added to the On-reading noun "ai" in order to make a verb "ai-suru," it was beginning to be widely used instead of "me-zu" - the verb in Yamato-kotoba.    <br /><br /><br /><br /><br />「山」/ya,ma/<br />***　"mountain"　<br /><br />奈良県にある二上山という山は昔「ふた・かみ・やま」と大和言葉で呼ばれていました。<br />***　The Mount Nijo which is located in Nara prefecture was called "futa-kami-yama" with Yamato-kotoba in ancient time.<br /><br />「ふたかみ」とは「頂上がふたつある」という意味です。<br />***　"Futa-kami" means "it has two sumits (of the mountain).<br /><br />人の数を数える時に、「ひとり、ふたり」と言って、数えますが、きっとそれと同じように、山の頂上を数えるのに、「ひとかみ、ふたかみ」と言いながら数えたのでしょう。<br />***　As for counting people you can say "hito-ri(=one person), futa-ri(=two people)," they would count tops of the mountain like "hito-kami(one sumit), futa-kami(two sumits)." <br /><br />そこにもともと単独で使われる大和言葉の「山（やま)」が組み合わさって「ふたかみやま」というふうに呼ばれるようになったと考えられます。<br />***　Then they added "yama" which was used as stand alone Yamato-kotoba, I can imagine so, the mountain became to be called "Futakami-yama."<br /><br />でも、今では、「に・じょう・ざん」と全ての漢字が音読みで読まれるようになりました。<br />***　However it is called "ni-jo-zan" now, by using On-reading for pronouncing all the kanji in itself.<br /><br />これは、この山の名前の漢字を「見た」人たちが、漢字が三つ続いているので、LEGOブロックが組み合わさっているように、「見えた」のでしょう。<br />***　I guess, maybe, when people "saw" the kanji of the mountain, they thought it could "be seen" as if it was assembled with some Lego blocks. <br /><br />そこで、いつしか音読みが訓読みに取って代わっていったのだと思います。<br />***　Then, in the course of time, I think the On-reading had come to take the place of the Kun-reading.<br /><br />しかしながら、単に山を指す時には、大和言葉の「山（やま）」が単独で使われるケースがあまりにも多かったので、その場合は、音読みの「山（さん）」に付け入る隙を与えなかったのだと思います。<br />***　However the Yamato-kotoba 山/yama/ was very much often used to simply indicate a mountain, On-reading of it 山/san/ could not find a room for standing alone use in that situation. <br /><br /><br /><br />このように、ある文脈の中で、漢字があたかもLEGOブロックのようにして使われている、と思ったならば……<br />***　So if you think that a kanji is used like a Lego block in a certain context...<br /><br />思い切って、「音読み」で読んでしまいましょう！！！<br />***　let your courage be taken to read it with "On-reading" !!! <br /><br />そのあと、可能な限り、辞書を使って正しい答えを確認しましょう。<br />***　Then look into a kanji dictionary for confirmaing the correct answer if it is practicable for you.<br /><br /><br /><br />もしも正解が「音読み」だったら、あなたの「読み」は的中しました。<br />***　If the answer is "On-reading,"  you've hit it with your "Reading."<br /><br /><br />(例１) 底辺（テイヘン＝音読み）<br />***　(ex 1) 底辺 /te,-(i),he,n(n)/ = On-reading: it means "the base (line)," or "the bottom (range)."<br /><br />(例２）次回（ジカイ＝音読み）<br />***　(ex 2) 次回 /ji,ka,i/ = On-reading: it means "next time," or "next occasion."<br /><br /><br /><br />もしも正解が「訓読み」だったら、LEGOブロックの組み合わせではなくて、元々の訓読み言葉のままで単独使用が認められていた漢字なのです。<br />***　If the answer is "Kun-reading," it is not a part of essembled Lego blocks, but a kanji which has been already allowed to be used independently with original Kun-reading.<br /><br />つまり、あなたは日本古来の言葉、大和言葉（やまとことば）に遭遇したことになります。<br />***　In blief, you have come to encounter one of the time-honered Japanese words; Yamato-kotoba.<br /><br />それらの多くは、もともとは、ひとつの文や句であったものが、ちょうど折り紙のように折りたたまれていって、中心の言葉だけが残って、慣用表現になっていることがあります。<br />***　Many of them are idioms which are originally complete sentences or clauses, but being folded like Origami, and then the core parts of the words are left. <br /><br />あるいは、もしかしたら連用名詞との遭遇かもしれません！<br />***　Or, perhaps, it might tell you an encounter with one of the Renyo-meishi! <br /><br /><br />(例３)底力（そこぢから＝訓読み）⇒「いざというときに"底"から湧き上がってくる強い"力"」<br />　　　⇒　この底力という熟語は、一種の慣用表現であると考えることが出来ます。<br />***　(ex 3) 底力 /so,ko,d(j)i,ka,ra/ ＝ Kun-reading ⇒ "A strong potencial 'power' which is generated at the bottom of your soul when it comes to the point.<br />***　⇒　you can consider this combined word of kanji "底力 /so,ko,d(j)i,ka,ra/"　to be a sort of idiomatic expression.<br /><br />(例４）次（つぎ＝訓読み）⇒「継ぐ（つぐ）」という動詞と同じ語源<br />    　⇒　「継ぐ」の「ーます形」は「継ぎます（つぎます）」ですから、これは本来「連用名詞」です。<br />***　(ex 4) 次 /tsu,gi = Kun-reading ⇒ it has a same origine of 継ぐ/tsu,gu/<br />***　⇒　As a -masu form of     <title>Masamune : Three funny & serious reasons why I need kanji when reading & writing (13)</title>
      <description><![CDATA[

(1) Because it looks cooler to use both kanji and hiragana than I write sentences only in hiragana.<br />(ex.) Wow, you can write kanji! It's so coooool!<br /><br />(2) Because I can save writing space on the paper so that I can use my note book as long as possible.<br />(ex.) masamune = 8 letters, まさむね= 4 letters, 政宗=2 letters, Yeah, with using kanji, I can save as 4 times space as in roma-ji<br /><br />(3) Because I had to pass the test I needed for any occasions, and any tests were full of kanji.<br />(ex.) The test says, "次の文章を読んで問いに答えよ(= Read the sentences below and answer the questions)<br />In order to answer the questions, I first need to understand these kanji, 次. 文章, 読, 問, and 答.<br />If I skip them, like "blabla の blabla を blabla んで blabla いに blabla えよ, ” I don't know what to do with the test before reading the questions.<br /><br />Well, that's why I need kanji when reading & writing.

I received a question from someone in YouTube:<br /><br />"I know you get this lot, but I'm trying to learn Japanese. take an afternoon nap<br /><br /><br />「漢字（名詞）＋する（さ行変格活用動詞）」という述語構造の場合は、ほとんどの場合、（A)のように音読みです。<br />***　You should read them out with On-reading in most of cases when it comes to the predicative words structure; "Kanji-made stem (noun) + suru verb(Group-Ⅲ;-suru irregular verb)" like (A).<br /><br />でも、（B)のように、訓読みが使われているものがあります。<br />***　However some kanji should be read out with Kun-reading like (B).<br /><br />なぜでしょう？<br />***　Why?<br /><br />（B)の「昼寝」の最後の漢字「寝」に「ます」をつけると「寝ます」となりますね。<br />***　You can make "ne-masu" by adding "-masu" right after "ne" of "hiru-ne" of (B), can't you?<br /><br />このように、「ます形」の語幹をそのまま名詞として使うことがあるのです。<br />***　Like that way, there are nouns which are the same as the stem of -masu-form of a verb.<br /><br />それを「連用名詞」といいます。<br />***　It is called "Renyo-meishi"(= A noun which comes from "Continuative form" or "Predicative modifying form" (=Stem of -masu-form) of a verb)<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />------------------------★[Block-C]★--------------------------------<br /><br />（A)愛する [あいする] (音読み)<br />（B)昼寝する [ひるねする] (訓読み)<br />***　(A)愛する [ai-suru] (On-reading);to love<br />***　(B)昼寝する [hirune-suru] (kun-reading):to take an afternoon nap<br /><br /><br />「漢字＋する」という動詞の場合、もし語幹の最後の漢字が「連用名詞」になっていれば、語幹に使われている漢字を全て「訓読み」で読みます。<br />***　If the last kanji of a "kanji-made stem + suru verb" is "Renyo-meishi(renyo-noun)," you should read it all--- the whole kanji unit as the stem of -suru irregular verb --- with "Kun-reading."<br /><br /><br />（A)の場合：<br />***　In the case of (A):<br /><br />「愛ます」とは言えません、<br />***　You cannot say "Ai-masu."<br /><br />「愛します」といいます。<br />***　You should say "Aishi-masu."<br /><br />それは「愛」という漢字が音読み名詞だからです。<br />***　That's because the kanji of "Ai" is an On-reading noun.<br /><br />「漢字(名詞）＋する」では、ほとんどの場合がこの（A)「愛する」のように「音読み」です。<br />***　In most of the cases of the "kanji(noun) + suru," you sould read them with "On-reading" like (A)"Ai-suru." <br /><br />このような「漢字の音読み＋する」動詞の場合、語幹の漢字（例えば「愛」）だけで、名詞として使われるのです。<br />***　If it is "On-reading of kanji + suru", you can use the stem which consists of kanji(for example, "Ai") as a noun standing alone.  <br /><br /><br />（B)の場合：<br />***　In the case of (B):<br /><br />「昼寝ます」とは言いませんが、<br />***　You cannot say "Hirune-masu."<br /><br />「昼寝します」とは、普通に言います。<br />***　You can naturally say "Hirune-shi-masu."<br /><br />ここまでは、（A)の「愛する」と同じです。<br />***　So far, it is the same as (A)"愛する /a,i/-/su,ru/ (On-reading)."<br /><br />でも、（B)の「昼寝する」の場合、その最後の漢字「寝」に「ます」をつけると「寝ます」となりますね。<br />***　However, in the case of (B)昼寝する /hi,ru,ne/-/su,ru/ (Kun-reading), you can make "寝ます/ne/-/ma,su/" by adding "-masu" right after the last kanji "寝 /ne/" out of the "昼寝/hi,ru/-/ne/," can't you?<br /><br />ところが、その「寝（ね）」が訓読みのまま単独で名詞として使われることはまずありません。<br />***　I should also say that you cannot use the "寝" with the kun-reading /ne/ - the final kanji of the stem - as a noun standing alone.<br /><br />このような漢字は、その前に補足語が付け加えられて、全部まとめてひとつの名詞になります。<br />***　In the case of kanji like that, you need to add some complements before it, then whole unit will be made up as one noun.<br /><br />例えば、「昼寝」という名詞には「寝」という訓読みの漢字の前に、「昼」という補足語が付け加えられていますね。<br />***　For instance, you can see a word "昼寝　/hi,ru/-/ne/" consisting of a complement "昼 /hi,ru/" which is added before the Kun-readed kanji "寝 /ne/," can't you see it?<br /><br />そして「昼寝」という名詞が作られています。<br />***　This is how the noun "昼寝 /hi,ru,ne/" is made up.<br /><br />これが「連用名詞」の最大の特徴です。<br />***　This is the biggest feature of "Renyo-meishi"(Noun which comes from "Continuative form"(=Stem of -masu-form) of a verb).<br /><br />（もちろん、多少の例外はありますよ）<br />***　(Of course there are some exceptions though)<br /><br /><br /><br />（A)にせよ（B)にせよ、「漢字＋する」という動詞では、語幹となっている漢字の部分が名詞として独立できるようになっています。<br />***　Whether in (A) or (B), as for a set of kanji-stem of a "kanji + suru" verb, it can independently become a noun . <br /><br />問題は、語幹の漢字名詞を成り立たせる方法に、そもそもの違いがあるということです。<br />***　The question is that there is the difference between them; how you can make up the stem-noun from the ground up.<br /><br />語幹の"最後"の漢字（例えば「昼寝する」では、「寝」という漢字）に「ます」をつけて意味が通れば、訓読みです。<br />***　You should use Kun-reading if it makes sense that adding "-masu" at the last kanji of the stem(for example, adding -ます to the "寝" of "昼寝する").   <br /><br />意味が通らなければ、音読みです。<br />***　You should use On-reading if it doesn't make sense.<br /><br /><br /><br />-------------------★[Block-D]★------------------------<br /><br />さて、ここで、新たな疑問です。<br />***　Now, here we have a new problem.<br /><br />（A)の「愛する」では「愛します」とは言えても、「愛しの時間」とは言えません。<br />***　As for (A) "Ai-suru,  although you can say "Ai-shi-masu,"<br />you cannot say "Ai-shi-no-jikan"<br /><br />「愛しの歌」と言うことも出来ません。<br />***　You cannot say "Ai-shi-no-uta" either.<br /><br />「愛し」は、いわゆる連用形ですが、名詞としては使われないのです。<br />***　Although "Ai-shi" is so caled Renyo-form, it cannot be used as a noun.<br /><br />もちろん、「愛の時間」や「愛の歌」と言うことは出来ます。<br />***　Of course you can say "Ai-no-jikan" and "Ai-no-uta."<br /><br />そしてまた（B)の「昼寝する」でも、「昼寝します」とは言えても、「昼寝しの時間」とは言えません。<br />***　As for (B)"Hirune-suru", it is the same thing; although you can say "Hirune-shi-masu, "you cannot say "Hirune-shi-no-jikan," <br /><br />「昼寝しの歌」と言うことも出来ません。<br />***　You cannot say "Hirune-shi-no-uta" either.<br /><br />「昼寝し」もまた、「昼寝する」の連用形ですが、名詞としては使われないのです。<br />***　"Hiruneshi" is a Renyo-form, but it cannot be used as a noun.<br /><br />もちろん、「昼寝の時間」や「昼寝の歌」と言うことは出来ます。<br />***　Of course you can say "Hirune-no-jikan" and "Hirune-no-uta."<br /><br />なぜでしょう？<br />***　Why?<br /><br />「愛の時間」や「昼寝の時間」では、「の」の後に「時間」という名詞が続いていますね。<br />***　As you see, there is a noun; "時間/jikan/" which follows after a "の/no/" of the "Ai-no-jikan", or "の/no/" of the "Hirune-no-jikan."<br /><br />この「の」は後ろの言葉が前の名詞に所属しているという意味を表わす「助詞」の「の」です。<br />***　This "の/no/" is a particle の which indicates that a following word belongs to a preceding noun(or a noun phrase).  <br /><br />先行する述語に名詞としての役割を与える働きをする「形式名詞」の「の」ではありません。<br />***　It is not a "formal noun" の which has an effect of giving the role of noun to its preceding predicative words.　<br /><br />ですから「～の時間」と言う場合、「の」の前には名詞の働きをする言葉が来なければいけません。<br />***　Therefore you have to put a noun or noun phrase before の, if you say "～の時間(= time for～, or time to ～)"<br /><br />問題は、「愛し」や「昼寝し」の「し」が、文法的には名詞に相当する言葉なのかどうかということです。<br />***　The problem is whether し of 愛し, or 昼寝し, is a word which grammartically corresponds to a noun or not.<br /><br />その問題を解決するためには、まず、「漢字＋する」の「する」という動詞を単独で考えてみる必要があります。<br />***　In order to solve that question, we have to think about a する of a "kanji+suru" in a way of considering it as an isolated verb.<br /><br />「する」の「ます形」は「します」です。<br />***　The -masu-form of する is します.<br /><br />これだけ見れば、「愛し」や「昼寝し」の「し」を連用名詞として考えてもよさそうですね。<br />***　As for just seeing it, it would seem to be all right if we regarded the し of the 愛し or the 昼寝し as a Renyo-meishi(renyo-noun). <br /><br />もし、そうならば、名詞「愛」と連用名詞「し」が組み合わさって、ひとつの複合名詞「愛し」が作られたり、<br />また、連用名詞「昼寝」と連用名詞「し」が組み合わさって、ひとつの複合名詞「昼寝し」が作られる、と考えることも可能になってきます。<br />*** If so, it could be possible to make a compound noun 愛し by combining the noun 愛 and the Renyou-meishi(renyo-noun)し.<br />***　And also, it could be possible to think that we can make a coumpound noun 昼寝し by combining one Renyo-meishi 昼寝 and the other Renyo-meishi し.<br /><br />しかしながら、「する」という動詞の「ます形」である「します」の語幹「し」が連用名詞として使われることはほとんどありません。<br />***　However "shi"- the stem of the masu-form of the verb "suru" - cannot very often be used as a "Renyo-meishi." <br /><br />僕が知る限りでは、「買い物をしに行きます」のように、後ろに「に行きます」のような "助詞の「に」＋「移動を表わす動詞」" が続けられるときにだけ、<br />「（何かを）するため」という移動の目的となる行為を表わす意味で、「し」が連用名詞として使われます。<br />***　As far as I know, "shi" can be used as "Renyo-meishi" only in the case of that it means "in order to do something" by coming with a particle "ni" + a "verb" which indicates a movement of transfering onself to someplace,<br /> such as "kaimono-(w)o shi-ni iki-masu" (=I'll go shopping).   <br /><br />この連用名詞（発音するときは「訓読み」です）は、現代の日本語では、それほど数が多いわけではありませんから、遭遇するたびに、ボキャブラリーとして、覚えることにしましょう。<br />***　Since there are not so many Renyo-meishi(you should read it with "Kun-reading") in moderan Japanese language, I recomend for you to remember them as a vocabulary on each time you encounter them.   <br /><br /><br /><br /><br />いずれにしても、ここで一番大切なのは、活用に関する「文法知識」です。<br />***　Anyway, the most important thing here in this Chapter-1 is a "grammatical knowledge" of conjugation.<br /><br /><br /><br     <title>Masamune : New video in bilingual (9)</title>

天井裏のイタチ<br />A weasel under the roof.<br /><br />僕の部屋の天井裏には、ずっと前から、イタチが住んでいる。<br />Over the ceiling of my room, under the roof of my house,<br /> there has lived a weasel for a long time.<br /><br />彼は、ときどき、とてもうるさく走り回るけど、僕はいつも怒らない。<br />Though he sometimes runs aound so loudly, I usually am not angry at him. <br /><br />ところが、最近、テーブルの上のパンが、何者かによってかじられていた。<br />Recently,I found my bread had got bitten by some small animals.<br /><br />イタチの仕業か？<br />Did the weasel do this?<br /><br />いや、ちがう。<br />No, I don't think so.<br /><br />だって、イタチは肉食だからね。<br />'cause veasels are predators, right?<br /><br />じゃ、誰なんだ？<br />So, who is it?<br /><br />まさか、ネズミ？<br />Surely not rats?<br /><br />そんなはずは、ないさ……<br />Coudn't be them……<br /><br />でも、きのう、仕事から帰ると、ネズミがいるのを発見した。<br />But yesterday, when I came back home from work, I found a rat.<br /><br />ネズミは走ってドアのすき間からどこかへ逃げていった。<br />The rat run and run, and finally escaped from my room through a tiny opening in the door to somewhere.<br /><br />すると、ぼくは、天井を睨みつけて、叫んだ。<br />Then I looked at the ceiling and shouted:<br /><br />「おい、イタチ！<br />"Hey, weasel!<br /> <br />ネズミが出たぞ！<br />Raaaaat!<br /><br />なに、ボーっとしてるんだ！<br />What makes you so absent minded?<br /><br />怠けるんじゃない！<br />Don't be lazy!<br /><br />さっさと働け、この野郎！<br />Kick your ass and get work, bastard! <br /><br />いいか、よく聞けよ、そこに住みたければ、ネズミを捕るんだよ！<br />Listen carefully, if you want to live there, get the rats!<br /><br />それは、お前の義務だ！<br />That is your duty!<br /><br />働きなさい！<br />Do your job!<br /><br />わかったか？」<br />Got that?<br /><br />僕の説教が効いたのか、今夜のイタチは、天井裏で忙しく走り回っているようだ。<br />Toningh, the weasel is busy for running around under the roof as if my preach worked a lot.<br /><br />あ。ネズミの悲鳴が聞こえた。<br />O I hear the rat make a scream.<br /><br />よしよし。<br />Good!<br /><br />それでよろしい。<br />Good job!<br /><br />そこに住んでもいいよ、イタチ君❤<br />You can stay there, Mr weasel❤ <br /><br />じゃあね！<br />Bye!

    <title>Masamune : 英語学習されている方で上級者のみなさまへ。 (2)</title>
      <description><![CDATA[

（添削の必要はありません。皆さんのご意見をおきかせください）<br /><br />≪私の仮説---カント哲学の用語をほんの少し応用しながら……ただし英語の訳語(thinking, feeling. operating)は自己流です≫<br /><br />まとまりのある言葉が、ある秩序に基づいて口頭で発話される時、<br />顕在化された言葉全体に対して、悟性軸(The thinking axis)と感性軸(The feeling Axis)とのふたつが、潜在的に内在関与(be involved)している。<br />ネイティブ言語の場合、話者は、自然に浮かんでくるアイデアを口頭で言語化して発話するときには、感性軸に意識を集中する。<br /><br />感性軸に意識を集中し、それを言語化して表現しようとする試みは、<br />先天的に持って生まれた能力に他ならない。<br /><br />そして、それに追従するように悟性軸が、文法的に適うようにするための統語枠組を、ほぼオートマチックに、構築していく。<br /><br />悟性軸のこのオートメーション作用は、後天的訓練によるものだ。<br /><br />だから、話者は、もっぱら感性軸に集中し、<br />それと同時に、理性軸(The Operating Axis)を働かせながら、悟性軸のオートマチズムを、ときどき監視し、<br />時には、発話直前に考え込んだりして、あるいは、発話した後に訂正したりして、<br />修正を加えることになる。<br /><br />これが、いわゆるネイティブが自然に話をしている状態である。<br /><br /><br /><br />では、外国語を自然に話せるようになるには、どのようなプロセスを辿ることになるのだろうか？<br /><br />言い換えるならば、<br />「いかにして先天的な能力である感性軸に、その本来の地位である、集中対象としての基軸（The Main Axis)という立場を、与えることが出来るのか？」<br />ということが、問題になってくるのである。<br /><br />なぜならば、外国語の学習において、現実的に可能な方法は、<br />ほとんどの場合、まずは悟性軸に新たなチャンネルを構築することから始まるからである。<br /><br />次に目指すべきは、その新たなチャンネルをガイドラインにして、<br />今度は、感性軸の方にも新たなチャンネルを構築することになる。<br /><br />これは、例えば外国語として英語を勉強しているのであれば、<br />「英語で考えて、英語で話す」<br />という実践トレーニングによって培われていく。<br /><br />つまり、日本語からの翻訳プロセスを排除することによって、<br />感性軸の上に、新しく英語のチャンネルを開発していく試みである。<br />そして、この試みは、とてもうまくいく。<br /><br />ところが、ここから先が、本当の問題なのだ。<br /><br />私が、このエントリーを書こうと思いったったのは、<br />この先のことに対しての、仮説を立てて、<br />広くラング８諸氏の皆さんのご意見を賜りたいと考えたからである。<br /><br /><br />******************************<br />例えば、仮に母国語が日本語で、英語を勉強しているとしよう。<br /><br />「新しく作り上げた感性軸上の英語チャンネルに、<br />いかにして、話者の意識が集中する「主なる基軸」としての立場を、<br />与えることができるのか？」<br /><br />これができなければ、流暢には話せない。<br />すなはち、英語をまるで日本語のように流暢に話すようになるためには、これが出来ていなければならない。<br />これが、問題である。<br /><br /><br />私の仮説は、こうである。<br /><br />（１）まずは、日本語で自然に発話する。<br />そうすることで、感性軸の「主なる基軸」状態が活性化（アクティベート）される。<br /><br />（２）そのあとすぐに（深呼吸を一回するだけの短い時間のあと）、<br />発話内容が同じになるように気をつけながら、英語で発話する。<br /><br />ただ、これだけである。<br /><br /><br />いわば、自分自身が自分の通訳者になるような、そういう訓練である。<br />なぜ、これが有効であろう、と考えるに至ったのかというと、<br />感性軸を「主なる基軸」へとアクティベートする作業と、<br />自分の言いたいことを、新しく作った英語のチャンネルを通して口頭で言語化してゆく作業とを、<br />同時に行う事は、とても、困難なことであるように思えてならなかったからである。<br /><br />ならば、二つに分けて考えればいいではないか？<br />普通に日本語で話すならば、感性軸のアクティベート作業は自然に完成するだろう。<br />ということは、その熱が冷めないうちに、さっさと英語で発話してしまえばいいんじゃないか？<br /><br /><br />自分で、何回か試してみたが、それは、とてもうまくいっていたように思えた。<br />感性軸を「主なる基軸」へとアクティベーションすることに関しては問題は起こりにくいことに気がついた。<br /><br /><br />「たとえ、英語的feelingと日本語的feelingの間に、大きな違いがあったとしても、<br />それでも、同じひとつの感性軸上に存在するチャンネルの違いにすぎないのである」<br />と、そのように思えるようになってきたのである。<br /><br />つまり、つまずくのは、悟性軸の英語チャンネル（文字であろうが図形であろうが、とにかくノートに書き写すことのできる知識が、集積されるところ）に、<br />勉強不足による不十分さがある場合に限られていたのである。<br /><br />この≪感性軸英語チャンネルの主なる基軸アクティヴ状態≫をたくさん経験することが、<br />ネイティヴ感覚と外国語感覚とのギャップを埋める作業として、<br />どうしても必要になってくる大切なプロセスではないだろうか？<br /><br /><br />そうすることで、次の段階として、ようやく現れてくるのが、<br /><br />「日本語を発話することなく、英語で自然に、まったく日本語と同じように流暢に、話せるようになる」<br /><br />という、最終段階へ向けた訓練の道がひらけてゆくのではないだろうか？<br /><br />**************************************************************************************************<br />ちなみに、書き言葉の場合は、通常、悟性軸に「主なる基軸」の立場が与えられている。<br />すなわち、「書くこと」と「話すこと」の違いは、「主なる基軸」のありどころの違いであるといえる。<br />**************************************************************************************************<br /><br />＜仮説は以上で終ります＞<br /><br /><br /><br />みなさんは、どう思われますか？<br />このアプローチで正しいと思われますか？<br />それとも、なにか大きな問題が潜んでいるように思われますか？<br />もしよろしければ、皆さんの体験談や、ご意見等をお聞かせください。<br />よろしくお願いします。

    <title>Masamune : わ (3)</title>

This is from my personal study note which is about a particle わ.<br /><br />A particle わ can be used only for a girl, it implies that she has a clear consciousness about what she is talking now, I mean, not just an observer but a participant of the conversation. <br /><br />(ex.1)うれしいわ！(I am HAPPY!)<br /><br /><br />It comes from a particle は, a topic marker.<br /><br />I checked the ancient Japanese dictionary, 古語辞典,<br /><br />unfortunately, they cannot tell what the original resourse of the は is.<br /><br />I imagined.<br /><br />It might come from a word はふ which means  のびる "to extend."<br /><br />Alright, it comes from "to extend."<br /><br />********************************************<br />Then I had to think about a particle ぞ.<br /><br />A particle ぞ can be used only for a guy, it implies that he has a strong will or assurance for being come true of what he is talking now.<br /><br />(ex.2)試験に合格するぞ！(I WILL pass the exam!)<br /><br />The dictionary said it comes from a pronoun し or そ which means "IT"(with a stress for emphasing the meaning of its corresponding words).<br /><br />********************************************<br />In acient Japanese grammar, there are some sets of "Particle and Inflection of the conjugation" which makes grammatical agreement.<br />This relation is called 係り結び.<br />Okay, let's call it a "Kakari-Musubi-Relation."<br />However, it disapeared in modern Japanese grammar.<br /><br />********************************************<br />When I think of a particle わ,<br />I end up thinking the "Kakari-Musubi-Relation." <br />I don't want to explain you about it in detail because it is complicating rule and not so much interesting.<br />So I suggest for you to take it like this:<br /><br /><br />は---Tension<br />よ(or だよ)---Resolve<br /><br />ぞ---Trial<br />わ---Reaction<br /><br />A "Tension" and a "Resolve" can be used together in onesentence.<br /><br />(ex.3) 桜は満開だよ。（Cherry blossoms are fully blooming）<br /><br /><br />Whereas a "Trial" and a "Reaction" mostly used alone in one sentence (see ex-1 and ex-2),<br />but they can make the "Relation" in a "Trial and Reaction" conversation.<br /><br />(ex.4)<br />A guy:「ゴジラがやってくるぞ！」(Godzilla is coming!)<br />A girl:「こわいわ！」(I'm scared!)<br /><br /><br />The "Tension and Resolve" can also make a "Question and Answer" conversation.<br /><br />(ex.5)<br />A son:「お母さんは？」(Where is Mom?)<br />A father:「トイレだよ」(She is in the bathroom)

      <description><![CDATA[

This is my personal study note about て<br /><br />て originally comes from つ which means:<br />There are several actions which seems to be one unit,<br />so each action is one of the process of whole unit.<br />て indicates that the preceding action has just completed,<br />and then the next action will be carried out in sequence.<br />So て shows there is a certain joint of a whole PROCESS which consists of several actions.<br /><br />って indicates there is a pair of "query and result."<br />In colloquial conversation, it oftens apears because it is natural that one poses a question and the other responses it.<br /><br />Even in writing, if it is written in a colloquial style, って is often used as the same meaning, "query and result."<br />Usually a preceding word marked by って indicates "a query."<br />Sometimes, one of them, a query or a result, is omitted.<br />In that case, "a result" can be marked by って.<br /><br /><br />(ex.1) ビートルズって、いつ聞いてもいいなあ。<br /><br />ビートルズ＝Ｑｕｅｒｙ<br />いつ聞いてもいいなあ＝Ｒｅｓult<br /><br />(ex.2) 愛って何？<br /><br />愛＝Query<br /><br />(ex.3) 愛しているんだって！<br /><br />愛しているんだ＝Result<br /><br />If you admit that a pair of "query and result" is a makeing process of one unit, the original meaning of a word て is still remains in a word って.

/>被災地の悲惨な状況に深く心を痛めています。<br />Since the earthquake of the off shore Tohoku region to the Pacific<br />is no precedent in scale, as the magnitude is nine point zero,<br />I am deeply hurt by the grievous situation in the affected areas.<br /><br /><br /><br />地震や津波による死者の数は<br />日を追って増加し、<br />犠牲者が何人になるのかもわかりません。<br />The number of deceased, caused by the earthquake and the tsunami, increases day by day,<br /> and we cannot even know how many victims there will be.<br /><br /><br /><br />ひとりでも多くの人の無事が確認されることを願っています。<br />I hope that we can confirm as many people as possible to be found />諸外国からの、救援のために来日した人々、<br />国内のさまざまな救援組織に属する人々が、<br />余震の続く危険な状況の中で、<br />日夜、救援活動を進めている努力に感謝し、<br />その労を深くねぎらいたく思います。<br />The people of the national and local governments such as the Self-Defence Force, the police, the fire department, the Maritime Safety Agency,<br />also the people from many foreign countries,<br />and the people belonging to various kinds of organizations for the rescue and relief operatioons,<br />they were progressing the rescue and relief activities night and day under the dangerous condition of having been hit by the continuing afterquakes. <br />In apreciation for all of them,<br />I would like to deeply thank them for their efforts.<br /><br /><br /><br />今回、世界各国の元首から相次いでお見舞いの電報が届き、<br />その多くに、各国国民の気持ちが被災者と共にある、との言葉が添えられていました。<br />これを、被災地の人々に、お伝えします。<br />I I lost my big sister last December.<br />She was really kind and gentle.<br />She had been suffering from illness for a long time.<br />She was living alone without having her own family.<br />I want to dedicate her this poem.<br /><br /><br /><Dear my sister><br /><br />There were three envelopes on the table<br />when the police found her death was stable<br />She looked as if she was sleeping in heavenly peace <br />as if she'd done everything and had a feeling of releace<br />"No accident, no suicide, it's just natural case," the police said gently <br />In the envelopes, there were Chrismas cards enveloped tenderly and firmly<br />The things she did at the very end of her being conscious<br />were wishing her friends to have a very merry Christmas<br />She drew three pictures for her friends and above <br />She did it for love<br /><br /><Original poem by Masamune>

    <title>Masamune : 愛しています or 大好きです?  To say Aisiteimasu or To say Daisukidesu, that's the problem. (3)</title>

These are my YouTube videos<br /><br />http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_ZoBYCz1Bo<br /><br />http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0cVFiM6-TE&feature=related<br /><br /><br />I got a comment from someone like this:<br /><br />but isn't "Dai suki" or something mean i love you, too?????<br /><br /><br />Here is my answer:<br /><br />Daisuki indicates "you are in a﻿ good order according to rank,"<br /> whereas Aishiteimasu indicates "you are beyond the order, beyond the rank."<br /> For example, thinking about breathing air, drinking water and eating food,<br /> you need all of them in order to be alive, but there is orders, 1stly breathing air,<br /> 2ndly drinking water and 3rdly eating food, isn't there?<br /> Sometime you feel love is less than eating food but the other time you feel love is more than breathing air.<br /> Something like that.<br /><br />Now what do you think about my answer?
