16 Blocks

I watched the movie, "16 Blocks."
I think the casting in the movie is a bit unusual.
Bruce Willis, who always plays a tough guy, played a tired-looking old man. One of my favorite actors, David Morse, also appeared in the movie. He always plays a sincere man, but played a bad man for a change.

Actually I didn't understand English one person was speaking in the movie. He was Eddie played by Mos Def. His speak was very unique and I had no idea what he was speaking.
Have you watched it? If you have done, I'd like to ask you. Does he speak with any accent of somewhere? Or is that his own specific way to speak?
It sounded to me as if he has spoken another language. (^^;)

I just saw that movie and I liked it, too.

Mos Def's character was definitely hard to understand. Mos Def doesn't speak like that normally, it was just a style he used for that role. His character spoke with a bit of a strange voice. He also spoke in incomplete and wandering sentences and used a fair amount of slang. So don't feel bad that it was hard to understand. :^)

I haven't watched the movie, but I saw a clip of him talking in the movie.

He speaks with a New York accent and on top of that with a gangster type slur. Most gangsters are hardly understood by many English speakers as it is. If you understand any of that I'd congratulate yourself.

It is long time ago since I watched the movie. But I like Mos Def. He is also a rapper. So you may feel strange about his accent. It is a brilliant film. Here, I found something about him on Wiki. I hope it is useful. http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%A2%E3%82%B9%E3%83%BB%E3%83%87%E3%83%95

> Kojima Yoshio,

"Be in the movie" is more natural than "appear in the movie." I see.
Thank you for your corrections!

昨夜、アメリカのFBIのドラマを見ていたんですけど、
乱闘シーンなどで会話のスピードが速くなると
"Hey" と "Don't move! " くらいしか聞き取れない自分に
落ち込みました(><;)
う~ん。頑張らないとダメですね。
