これは日常の説明しにくいイディオムです！
Here is an everyday idiom that is rather difficult to explain!
１つ６個、他のダースの半分
Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
何かと他の何かを比べる時に、差はあまりないんだったらこれを言います＾０＾
You say this when you're comparing things that don't have any significant differences ^0^
昨夜のビジネス英語のレッスン途中生徒は日本語訳が「１００歩、５０歩」と言った
Last night during a business English lesson one of my students told me the Japanese equivalent is "100 steps or 50 steps".
もし。。。
If...
。。。車で宛先は２０分遠くて電車では２５分遠かったら。。。
...it will take you 20 minutes to get somewhere by car and 25 minutes by train...
。。。ローカルラメンショップは安くてローカル寿司やも安かったら。。。
...a local ramen shop is cheap to eat at and so is a local sushi shop...
。。。映画館で同じ値段で見たい映画は２つがあったら。。。
...two movies you want to see are showing at a theater for the same price...

Since there are twelve things in a dozen, and half of that is six ^0^

車で宛先は２０分遠くて電車では２５分遠かったら。。。そこへ行くのに車では２０分かかり、電車では２５分かかったら。。。
ローカルラメンショップは安くてローカル寿司やも安かったら。。。地方のラーメン屋は値段が安くて、同じように寿司屋も安かったら。。。
映画館で同じ料金値段で見たい映画がは２つがあったら。。。
これは日常使用される熟語でかなり説明が難しい！
何かと他の何かを比べる時、差があまりない場合にそう言います＾０＾
どこかに行くのに車で２０分か、電車なら２５分かかるようなら。。。

映画館で同じ値段で見たい映画が２つがあったら。。。
１つ６個、他のダースの半分 6個の固まりが一つと、その他の半ダース。
何かと他の何かを比べる時に、差はあまりないんだったらこれを言います＾０＾ 同じような物を比較する場合、これを言うことができます。

車で宛先は２０分遠くて電車では２５分遠かったら。。。たとえば、どこかに行くのに車では20分、電車では25分かかるとしたら。。。
地方のラーメンショップは安くて、寿司屋も同じように安かったら。。。
映画館の前で、同じ値段で見たい映画が２つあったら。。。
「１つ６個、他のダースの半分」と言えます＾０＾ 「どっちもどっちだね。」と言うことができます。
1ダースは１２個で、その半分は６個だからです。＾０＾

車で行き先に２０分遠くて電車では２５分かかったら。。。

「１００歩、５０歩」→「五十歩百歩」
映画館で、同じ料金で見たい映画が２つあったら。。。
「１つ６個、他のダースの半分」と言えます＾０＾この意味ってほんとにむずかしいですね。いい意味、少し悪い意味、とあるので。どっちもどっち、どっこいどっこい、似たり寄ったり、実力伯仲、技量伯仲、五分五分、五十歩百歩、ドングリの背比べ、など。突き詰めて考えると、むずかしいです。(＾o＾)
母はいつも、こう言っています。＠０＠
何か(と他の何か)を比べる時に、差はあまりないんだったらこれを言います＾０＾
A: "We can see Harry Potter at 3 o'clock or we can see Toy Story at 3:30."
B: "I want to see both of them sooner or later, so it's six of one for me."
A: "I might go to the grocery store after lunch, but I might go before lunch instead. I don't have anything to do today so it's really six of one, half a dozen of the other."
でも日本語の50歩100歩と違って、6個と半ダースは同じ数になりますよね。
そう考えると、朝三暮四のほうが近いのかな？とか思ったんですが、でもこっちは違った意味になっちゃいますね(^_^;)

「どっちも同じようなものだ」と言えます＾０＾
母は年がら年中この表現を使います＠０＠
It's interesting because despite the fact that six and half a dozen are "exactly the same", you mean "not much different" or "not significantly different" by this phrase.
On the other hand, Japanese saying "五十歩百歩" self-explanatorily means "not much different" or "not significantly different".
Maybe that would've been a better example to give @0@;;

次の英文についての質問です。
『...two movies you want to see are showing at a theater for the same price...』
最初この文章を読んで、「（ある）映画館で、見たい映画二本が、（他の映画館の１本をみるのと）同じ値段で上映している」と言う意味に受け取ったのですが、全くの誤解でしょうか？ そのように理解すると、Six of one. にはならないのですが。
いつもスーパーの安売りをチェックしているからでしょうかねぇ…。
