私の日本語の先生は２５才の時アメリカに引っ越して、日本の法律に従ってにおける日本国籍を放棄して、アメリカの市民になりました。
My Japanese teacher moved to the US when she was 25, gave up her Japanese citizenship in accordance with Japanese law and became an American citizen.

３０年間後に配偶者ビザで日本に帰ったけど、私は２０才の時日本に来たから、彼女の方が私よりアメリカ人です＾０＾
She came back to Japan 30 years later on a spousal visa, and since I came to Japan when I was 20, she's more American than I am ^0^

この事の詳しくを知っているけど、忘れやすいです。
I know all the details, but it's still easy to forget.

例えば、彼女は「私は何何が好き」と言って私は「ええ、日本人だからかな？アメリカ人は好きじゃないと思う」彼女は「だって、私はアメリカ人だよ」と言えます＾０＾；
For example if she says she likes something, and I say it's probably because she's Japanese, whereas Americans probably wouldn't like it, she can say "But...I'm American" ^0^;

「日本人はこの感じでアメリカ人はこの感じ」のような話しは軽率だから、気をつけないと彼女はかわいそう。
Conversations like "Japanese people are this way, while Americans are this way" are inconsiderate to her, so I try to be careful.

残念なことに、日本語の自然な「日本人はこの感じ、他の人はこの感じ」のような表現が多いから、彼女は他の人と話すときに、何の気持ちを感じるでしょうかね。
Unfortunately, natural Japanese has a lot of "Japanese people are this way while other people are like this" expressions, so I wonder how she feels sometimes, when she talks to other people.

長い説明があるので、短いバージョンは昨日友達のパソコンを突然に使う必要があって、彼女は無私無欲で一時間以上にパソコンをボランティアーしました。
It's a long story, so in short I had to suddenly borrow a friend's computer yesterday, and she selflessly surrendered it to me for over an hour.

I like keigo ^0^

毎日、普通に独り言で、私は頑張って使います。
I try to use it everyday, usually when talking to myself.

例えば家から出かける前に「忘れ物をでございませんようにお願い足します」とか、
Like before I leave the house I say "忘れ物をでございませんようにお願い足します",

タイムカードは部長からサインをもらう時に、「サインをいただいても宜しいですか？お願い足しま〜す!」とか＾０＾
and when I get my time card signed by a manager I say "サインをいただいても宜しいですか？お願い足しま〜す!" ^0^

しかし、もっと習って使いたい！
But I want to learn more I can use!

２番目の絵は生ゴミ処理機の力学：ブレードとモーター
The second picture is of the mechanics of a garbage disposal: blades and a motor

３番目の写真は使い方：食べなかった食べ物やジャガイモの皮を捨てること
The third picture is of how to use one: it's for disposing of uneaten food, potato peels, etc.

私は経験がないんだけど、日本の配管は敏感だと聞いたことがあります。
I've never experienced it, but I've heard that plumbing in Japan is especially sensitive.

目詰まりやすいから、気をつけないと簡単で大きな問題になる。
It clogs easily, so if you're not careful you can wind up with a big problem.

私は５年間ぐらい日本に住んでいるので生ゴミ処理機シンクを持っていることよく覚えられないから、あまりいりません＾０＾；
I've lived here for almost five years so I've forgotten what it's like to have a garbage disposal, and thus don't really need one ^0^;

でも、もし、私は大学生の時「将来にあなたの台所は生ゴミ処理機シンクがないよ」と聞いたなら、『うそー！ちょ〜困っちゃう！」と考えたかもしれない＊＾０＾＊
But if someone had told me that I wouldn't have a garbage disposal in the future when I was in college, I would've thought I'd have a really hard time without one *^0^*

I was selling my friend's watercolor prints just like I did last November!

ビッグサイトへ着いて、スーツケースを開けて、本棚を忘れてしまったことを気がついたx０x
I got to Tokyo Big Site and opened my suitcase to find that I'd forgotten my bookshelf x0x

しかし、終わりには成功でした！
But it all worked out in the end!

The first time you look at it, you see the cute shape and nice colors, but then you look again and...koi banners? Children wearing yukata?

友達に見せて、全体的な合意は夏っぽいのに5月5日の後に着るとおかしいかもしれない＾０＾；
I showed it to my friends and the general consensus was that even though it's a summer dress it would be weird to wear it after May 5th ^0^;

いくつかの友達は「外国人だから大丈夫だよ！」とか、「アメリカではオッケー」とか、「見ると分かりにくいから、いいよ！」と言ったけど、リスクを取る必要はありません　＾０＾；
A few friends said that it would be fine to wear because I'm not Japanese, that it would be okay in the US and that it's hard to see what the pattern is anyway, but I'd rather not take that chance ^0^;

そしてギフトカードを使ったらこのワンピースしか買えないか他のドレス３枚を買える＊０＊この子供の日のワンピースは１万５千だから。
And if I use my gift card I'll be able to buy either this one dress, or three other dresses *0* Since this one alone is $150.

日本に着られないワンピース１枚より日本に着られるワンピース３枚の方がいい＾０＾
I'd rather have three dresses I can wear in Japan than one I can't ^0^

アメリカンドリームに従い、私は小さい頃から大きな家を欲しかった。
In accordance with the American dream, I've wanted a big house since I was small.

中学生や高校生の時、友達に中に私しか2階建て住宅に住まなかって、「大人になって、絶対に大きな家に住みたい！」と決めました。
In junior high and high school I was the only one within my group of friends who didn't live in a two-story house, so I decided I would definitely have a big house when I became an adult, without a doubt.

友達や知らない人に「成功しましたよ！」と見せたかった
I would show friends and strangers alike that I was a success!

しかし、昨夜に面白い家についてテレビ番組がありました。
But last night there was a show about unusual homes on TV.

もっともはすごく大きかったけど、小さいな家もありました。
Most of them were really big, but there were little ones, too.

男性一人は建築家として、文字通り彼は自分の為すべての家を作られたのに、所有している土地半分しか使えずに本当に小さいな家を作りました。
One man was an architect--he could have made literally any house he wanted for himself--and using only half of the land he owned he made himself a super small one.

本当に感動しました＊０＊建築家なのに！すべての家を作られたのに！
It really made an impression on me *0* He was an architect! He could have made any house!

だから昨夜から、自分の夢は変更されました。
So last night, my dream changed.

可愛くて小さいな家に住みたい＾０＾
I want to live in a cute, small house ^0^

今シャベクリセブンを見ますが、ゲスト達は韓国のポップグループ
I'm watching Shabekuri7 at the moment, and the guests are a Korean boy band.

彼らはそんなによく日本の文化を慣れないから、機会あるごとに彼らは「ありがとうございます」とか、「ごめんなさい」とか、お辞儀します。
They're not used to Japanese culture, so they say "thank you" and "I'm sorry" and bow at every opportunity.

あまり韓国の音楽を好きじゃないけれど、彼らの礼儀正しさが可愛らしいです＊０＊興味になりました
I don't really like Korean music, but their politeness is adorable *0* I think I like them

This has happened before

ある日ホームセンターにいると、顧客サービスカウンターへ年上男性が着て、店員さんに質問を敬語で尋ねました。
One time I was at a home center and an older man came to the customer service counter and started asking the employees questions in polite Japanese.

彼のスタイルはかっこ良くなくて、年上し、けど、敬語で話したから、心が温かくなった＾０＾
He wasn't good looking, and he was an older man, but he spoke so politely that I felt all warm inside ^0^

説明が難しい＾０＾；
It's difficult to explain ^0^;

今シャベクリセブンにゲストは年上の女優になって、MC達は前より本当に優しくて、丁寧になりました。
Now the guest on Shabekuri7 is an older actress, and the hosts are acting a lot kinder than they were before, and very polite.

可愛らしいです＾０＾丁寧な男子が大好き．

会社の仲間の奥さんはすぐに（今週か来週か）第二子を生まれますが、彼らはまだ名前を決めません。
A coworker of mine's wife is giving birth to their second child soon (this week or next week), but they haven't decided on a name for it yet.

昨日同じ学校へ一緒に教えたから私は生徒さんに聞いて、結果はこれです：
Since we were at the same school yesterday I asked my students, and these were the results:

When I lived in Tochigi I had a second grade student named "Torai", so that's what I recommended, but everyone said it sounded like "try", and it was vetoed T0T

私は「か〜き〜く〜け〜こ」の音が好きだから、「ケイスケ」とか、「カズキ」とかのような名前が好きです〜
I like the "ka ~ ki ~ ku ~ ke ~ ko" sounds, so I like names like "Keisuke" and "Kazuki"~

ある日、友達は「日本人の子供は自分の名前を忘れないのように「私」じゃなくて、自分の名前を使う。」と言いました。
One day, a friend told me that Japanese children refer to themselves in the third person instead of saying "I" so that they don't forget their own names.

その時彼女は大学で日本語を勉強していると１回日本に行ったことがあったから、私は信じました。
At the time she'd been studying Japanese at university and had even been here once, so I believed her.

今それは実ではないと知っているけど、昔の間違いだったから、今直すことはちょっと失礼だな．．．
Now I know that's not actually the case, but it's a mistake from so long ago that correcting her now would be a little rude...

そして、ある日母は「日本人は仕事や学校へ持って行く弁当の中にお寿司をいる？冷凍せずに？ありえない、私にとっては病気になって心配する．．．」と言った
Also, my mom once said "Do Japanese people really put sushi in the lunch boxes they bring to work and school, without any refrigeration or anything? If it were me, I'd be terrified of the raw fish making me sick."

私はその時彼女の誤解ことをよく分からなかったから何も言わなかったけど、今分かった：
I didn't quite understand her misunderstanding at the time, so I didn't say anything, but now I get it:

彼女はお寿司以外に日本の料理について何も分からないなら、「日本人はお寿司を食べる」たす「日本人は弁当を使う」イーコル「日本人は弁当にお寿司を入れる」でしたT０T
Sushi is the only Japanese food she knows, so she took "Japanese people eat sushi", combined it with "Japanese people use bentos", and ended up with "Japanese people put sushi in their bentos" T0T

そのお話しはも昔なのから．．．
But that was from a while ago too, so...

それ対して、ある日母は「友達から「日本人は車を運転している間にトイレに行きたいならそのままどこでもに止まって、道のとなりにおしっこ」と言ったの！でも、彼女は絶対に違うでしょう！日本のような国はその事を絶対にやらないでしょう！」と言いましたが．．．
On the opposite end of the spectrum, my mom once said that she heard from a friend that when Japanese people are on the road and have to use the bathroom, they just pull over to the side and pee wherever they are. She said her friend had to be wrong, because a country like Japan would never let people do things like that...

私は「あぁ、そうね、その友達は間違いかしらね．．．」と言ったけど、実は福島や栃木にその事を見たことがありましたT０T
I agreed that her friend was wrong, but I've actually seen it happen in Tochigi and Fukushima T0T

でも母は日本についていいイメージを持って欲しいから、直さなくても大丈夫かな？＾０＾；
But I want her to have a good image of Japan in her head, so I think it'll be ok if I don't correct her ^0^;

すぐに私は３００メートル以下に引っ越します＾０＾；
Soon I will be moving less than 300 meters away ^0^;

今までいつもクロネコヤマトを使ったけど、アパートはそんなに近くにあるから要らないそう．．．だけど！
Until now I've always used Kuroneko Yamato, but the apartment is so close I don't need them this time...except!

テレビとか、本棚とかあると２階から２階に引っ越しているので、自分ではちょっと難しいかもしれない。
I am moving from the second floor of one building to the second floor of another, and I have things like my TV and bookshelves, which might be rather difficult to move alone.

友達は「手伝いが必要なら来るよ〜」と「旦那さんは重いものを転んであげるよ！」と言ったけど．．．
My friends have all said "We'll come if you need help!" and "My husband can carry all the heavy stuff for you!", but...

みんなは引退して大きなマンションに住んでいると私の次のアパートの方が小さいで、本当に古いから．．．
They're all retired and living in huge mansion apartments, while my next place is smaller than my current one and so old...

ちょっと恥ずかしいです＞０＜誰にも見て欲しくない。
So it's kind of embarrassing >0< I don't want anyone to see it.

With another three or four people I can get it done by Monday.

I hadn't wanted to rent an apartment through the company, but I figured I ought to because so many previous renters had run off after the earthquake. I regret it now, though.

I write them in my notebook and bring them to my Japanese teacher for further discussion once I fill a whole page.

Once I finish with the grammar section of my textbook I want to practice by reading and writing them over and over! ^0^

I like emailing people but I don't want to annoy my friends, so...

「よくメールしていい？」と聞けば、みんな優しいからもちろん「どうぞメールして〜」のような返事をもらうかもしれないから、そのまま聞かない方がいいかしら．．．＾０＾；
If I ask if it's okay to email them all the time they'll obviously say "Yes, of course!" because they're so nice, so I think I probably shouldn't ask directly...^0^;

仕事は遅くまで始めないから、東向きの窓を次のアパートにいらない。
Since I don't start work until late, I don't want an east-facing window in my next apartment.

She keeps looking at me like she's hungry, but she says she doesn't want to eat.

I feel as if I've forgotten something.

「間違いなら直して下さい」と言ったけど、間違いだらけの会話が分かりにくい。
He said to correct his mistakes, but it's hard to understand a conversation that is riddled with so many.

I have a ton of reasons for why I said you can't go.

Despite how boring her favorite movie was, I watched it through to the end.

Only after writing out the whole letter did I realize I'd spelt his name wrong multiple times.

I was impressed by the way you stayed by her until the end.
