I would like to thank Mr. Xi Yangyang, the creator of this incredible site, for his ingenuity and dedication. He has made it possible for hundreds of thousands of people around the world to learn foreign languages and make friends at the same time in a way that is easy and a lot of fun.

I learned about Lang-8 just a couple of days ago and started correcting Japanese sentences for learners of Japanese. I'm delighted that I have already made two new friends. One is in Taiwan and the other is in the U.S. I had only spent a few minutes giving them advice as to their grammar and pronunciation before I received messages from them inviting me to be their friend. I had never thought making friends in other countries could be this easy.

I'm looking forward to helping many more earnest learners of Japanese and having my own English corrected and polished as well as meeting a lot of interesting people through this great site.

I am also very happy and lucky to know Mr.elliot through Lang 8. ^_____^
But it's kinda a pity that you are not learning Chinese.:P
Otherwise I can also help you on it not just accept your kind help all the time.

Hello, Sunni!
Thank you very much for your message. I'm glad to know that there IS someone out there reading what I write. You shouldn't feel guilty that you can't help me by correcting my English. I really enjoy helping you with your Japanese (and your English, too, if you like). It's a lot of fun. If you want to thank me, why don't you write comments in English on my diary entries? It isn't fun if I write something and nobody corrects it or say anything about it.

  • I had only spent a few minutes giving them advice as to their grammar and pronunciation before I received messages from them inviting me to be their friend.
  • I had only spent a few minutes giving them advice about grammar and pronunciation before I received messages from them inviting me to be their friend. [Your original sentence is not grammatically incorrect, but "as to" is something of a formal way of saying "about". We lawyers use it all the time in contracts and the like, but a simple "about" fits better with the rest of the tone of this text.]

  • I had never thought making friends in other countries could be this easy.
  • I had never thought that making friends in other countries could be this easy. [Again, the original is not grammatically incorrect. This is perhaps more of a stylistic change, but with compound verbs followed by a gerund, it sounds better to me to add a "that" to clearly break the first clause's verb from the second clause.]

  • I'm looking forward to helping many more earnest learners of Japanese and having my own English corrected and polished, as well as to meeting a lot of interesting people through this great site. [You've structured this three-item list ("helping", "having", "meeting") as "(A+B) + C". Repeating "to" in front of C helps to reemphasize this distinction.]
