Some works are going to promote a division of labor for streamlining and the others aren’t going to a divisional cooperation, rather un-division of labor, so to speak. In the business world, the division of labor generally has progressed horizontally. Factories made all parts for assembly in the old days, but each parts are made by the different companies nowadays. Even an international specialization such as R&D in Japan, assembly in China, and inspection in Taipei is common. We also could say that clerical workers have been specialized into accountant, HR, welfare section and so on.

On the other hand, family is going backward. In the old days the role of family members used to be specialized. Dad brings home the bacon, mom cooks and rears their children, kids study and play, and Grandpa/ma socializes the neighbors. Nowadays, however, dad and mom have their jobs respectively and share the household chores. They are going to progress the un-division of labor. How comes do people progress specialization in the business and un-specialization in family?

The reason is closely correlated with the relation between specialization and productivity.

The economy, plus societal gender roles have changed. That's also an interesting reason you just mentioned. More people and more room to spread out jobs and productivity for business.
