Two girls worked very hard day and day without taking any days off.
He was wondering why they worked so hard. If they spend their life in the facility, they did not need to wake up early morning, did not need to endure a crowded train, and did not to get yelled on the line.

大山さんは社員のみんなの心に応えて少女たちを正社員として採用することにしました。
彼女たちは朝から晩まで一生懸命働きました
大山さんは、施設にいれば朝早く起きることもない、満員電車で我慢することもない、職場で怒られることもないのに彼女たちはなぜ毎日一日も休まず働くのか

The other day, Oyama asked a Buddhist priest who came for Buddhist memorial service. He answered like this;
There are four things in the happiness.
Being loved,
being praised,
being valuable to others,
and being indispensable to others.
You can get three of them except beloved from the working.

ある日大山さんは法事に来ていたお坊さんに聞きました、
坊さんは答えました、
人の幸せには4つあります
人に愛されること
人にほめられること
人の役に立つこと
人から必要とされること
このうち3つは働くことから得られます。

50 years have passed since then. Disabled workers account for 70% of employee in this company. The company has had the increases both in sales and profit for 48 years.

それから50年、知的障害者は社員の7割になりました。
この会社は48年も増収増益を続けています

義務教育で「労働は国民の義務」だと習ったけど、働くことの意義までは学校で教えてくれないですねぇ・・・
僕もいち社会人として、何のために働いているか真剣に考えないといけません。確かにお金だけじゃ人生つまらなくなりますね^^;

I'm a student but I figure I work just to make a comfortable living for myself even though it seems inevitable that I will hate my job lol

Yes we do tend to write off the mentally challenged as being generally unemployable. Stories such as these prove that having difficulties doesn't mean not being able to work as hard as everyone else (quite the contrary apparently). I'm glad this company has grown successful, they are setting a good example.
