Adam of Milk (牛乳のアダム)

Japanese people don't drink milk and have dairy products so much. Actually I like milk, but I always have diarrhea. A lack of calcium is compensated by fish and sea weed, I guess.

I’ve heard that human being is only animal of full-grown creatures who can digest milk and get nutrition from it. Milk is usually for babies, so animals during babies' period have a kind of enzyme to digest milk and lost it when they grown up.

Long time ago, a man was born in Africa or somewhere and he kept the enzyme after he grown up. He was the first man to digest milk and his descendant spread toward western area. Therefore there is a big different of the absorption rate of milk between Caucasian and Asian. Uhhh, is it why I get diarrhea?

A picture is macaron parisien. Beautiful confectionery, isn’t it?

Ciao.

I am half Japanese, and when I was young if I drank milk in the morning I would get an upset stomach. But now, I don't have that problem :D I never knew it might be because I am half-asian!

I also get red in the face if I drink alcohol, lol. My friends call it the "Asian glow".

Nice English :)

I didn't know that about milk. I heard we're also the only beings on the planet to drink the milk of other animals; usually animals like cows and sheep only drink their own milk.

I think it happened different times throughout history. I don't think any people can effectively digest milk after 3 years of age, but milk is a main part of the diet of certain cultures throughout Africa and Eurasia, but not in the Americas. Can you eat cheese and yogurt? I can eat cheese and yogurt, but milk makes me sleepy and a little sick, even though most of my ancestors are from areas where the people traditionally consumed milk. Cheese is predigested using the digestive enzymes of baby animals, and yogurt is predigested by several microorganisms. There was an incidence in the Orinoco region of South America where several hundred children died when they given milk by American foreign aid workers, because they were malnourished. They were completely intolerant of milk, even at a young age. Also many people can drink goat milk, but not cow milk.

I don't see anything else to correct that's not already fixed; your English is really good !!!

Some people here can't digest milk too. Most people can, however, drink milk and digest it fine, but it's difficult to digest all of it (the lactaid) and lots of people can get stomach problems when they drink milk if they're not accustomed to drinking it often.

If I drink milk often I'm fine, but if I stop drinking it for awhile and drink it again, it can upset my stomach. :-/ But it's okay, because I love the flavor, so nothing can stop me from drinking milk! ^^

Macaroons actually don't have milk, they're mostly made from egg whites! Hopefully they don't give you diarrhea ;)

Wow, I didn't know that. In America, drinking milk is highly encouraged. I had no idea that other countries avoided it.

Ugh, my dad and I are both very allergic to milk =_=

What the Japanese have we call "Lactose Intolerance," when the milk upsets your stomach, but my dad and I have an outright allergy. People try to group them together, but they're soooo different.
My dad can't breathe and has to have a shot. For me, if I eat or drink milk, my face gets itchy and very uncomfortable, and my throat becomes tight....but I eat it anyway haha XD

Even Westerners get diarrhea, hah. It's called lactose-intolerant. If everybody was lactose-intolerant in Japan, I'm sure they wouldn't sell milk in the supermarkets ;-)

Even in the West, there are many Caucasians who cannot digest dairy very well.

Once, in a supermarket in 名古屋市、I saw a sign above the milk products that said "DAILY". Obviously, it was a common misspelling of "dairy" - I thought it was funny, since few Asians consume milk daily.

I prefer soy milk and almond milk to actual dairy.

The confections are so colorful they almost look inedible lol. Yeah it's not fun being lactose intolerant i bet :/ Concerning the first lactose tolerant man, I've never heard that info before where did you hear it?
Jul 14th 2010 03:34 DrFunny

Most of my corrections I would have made have already been made, but I put them down anyway :(...

Anways, a lot of my family cannot drink milk, and that's because of lactose intolerance. That means there is a lack of the lactase enzyme which breaks down the sugar lactose. I have heard that story before, but I personally doubt its true. I think there was a mutation somewhere along the line of human history where someone carried the ability to digest this sugar for the rest of their lives.

And by the way, if you are lactose intolerant, there are many different lactose-free milks available. The problem is, as a whole milk drinker, I find them disgusting and watery.
