A Weird Day (変な一日)

Gosh, I get three consecutive days off at last. I had a hard weekday as usual. ^^

It rained heavily during a week. On Thursday during the flight I was so happy to see Mt. Fuji through a sea of cloud, but I got soaked to the skin on the way to my office because of guerrilla rain (unpredictable local shower)!!

The sky was dark and strange purple color. Uhhh, creepy. Guerrilla rain has come to be common weather recently. Is it due to global warming? ^^;

BTW, the second picture is of the Osaka castle from the sky.

  • It rained heavily during a week.
  • It rained heavily during a this week. (You use "during" two sentences in a row, so I rephrased this. Also could be: "during the week.")

  • On Thursday during the flight I was so happy to see Mt.
  • On Thursday, during the flight I was so happy to see Mt.

Wow, that purple sky is so beautiful. But, yes, creepy. I would be a little scared if the sky suddenly turned that color.

Your English is really good. The first time I read it, I didn't see any mistakes. It was easy to read.

  • It rained heavily during a week.
  • It rained heavily throughout the week. (this sentence is less stiff and more natural)

  • Fuji through a sea of cloud, but I got soaked to the skin on the way to my office because of guerrilla rain (unpredictable local shower)!!
  • Fuji through a sea of cloud, but I got soaked to the bone (this is a popular proverb)on the way to my office because of guerrilla rain (unpredictable local shower)!!

I agree that a lot of the weather changes is due to global warming. ひどいい ですよ! your entry is very well written! Good job!

Guerrilla rain. I like this term, but have never heard it before. If you were in America, we would call such a phenomenon a "Flash Flood" I'm sorry you got wet!! Great English by the way. I agree, it was very easy to read.

Also, global warming can influence many things, but the climate can change on its own patterns and wind currents. Has this type of rain ever been this common in the past? Even a long time ago?

We have a word "Yudachi(sudden rain at evening)" to describe a shower.
But guerrilla rain is a kind of rain at smaller area and shorter period.
Probably it is related with a lot of tall buildings, asphalt, and less woods.

Guerrilla rain, eh? That's an interesting image.

In the Midwestern US, we've taken unpredictable weather for granted for as long as anyone can remember. There's an old saying, "If you don't like the weather in Ohio, wait five minutes."

Haha! I'm going to start using "guerrilla rain" now. That's a brilliant term.

  • Fuji through a sea of cloud, but I got soaked to the skin on the way to my office because of guerrilla rain (unpredictable local shower)!! I don't think guerilla rain is a common expression in English. At least not where I live.

  • Uhhh, creepy.
  • Uhhh, creepy. What you have works, but just in case you don't know, there are a couple of ways of saying "uh" that have fairly different meanings:uhh=unsure ugh=creeped out or disgusted.

  • Is it due to global warming?

Nice english, Kyoko! Interesting read, I hope you get some nice weather soon.
