My name is Burkhard. I am a graduate of Chinese literature from Germany. In the near future, I intend to ordain as a Buddhist monk in Longquan Monastery, Beijing, China. Right now, I am working in the translation centre of Longquan Monastery, where our blogs and mini-blogs are translated into up to eight different languages. I am responsible for translations from Chinese into German, French and Spanish. I would be very happy if you could tell me whether the adjective "average" in the following announcement (the English version is not my own) is pejorative or not.

"This seminar, which will pay special attention to the needs and conditions of average translators and interpreters..."

Thank you very much!

Thanks! I think "fill in" is British English - "fill out" is American English. In German, we also say "fill out" (ausfüllen).

It depends on your audience :)
If you expect people from England: fill in; if you expect Americans: fill out.
