In Japan, we number typhoons. Typhoon no 5 means the 5th typhoon of this year.

I see!　I thought it was like in the US. A tornado might be called "Category 5". Or the strength of it. I don't know if such a thing exists for typhoons.

What is the kanji for typhoon?

"Typhoon" is written "台風" in kanji. "Typhoon" is originated from Japanese like "tycoon", "tsunami" :)
