It is very important for Lang-8 to PR to other countries, but we have few chance to meet Media except Japan.

I wish we can join TechCrunch50 next year.

I don't know what "TechCrunch Tokyo Camp" is like.
But it sounds good for Lang-8 to PR.
After you join it, please tell us about it.

  • I will join TechCrunch TokyoCamp" in 6 November.
  • I will join TechCrunch TokyoCamp" on 6 November 6th. (In a month, on a day [sometimes a number with a month, sometimes just a number, and sometimes a day of the week], at an hour and minute. "I have a doctor's appointment at 6:30 on wednesday." In is for years, also.)

  • It is very important for Lang-8 to PR to other countries, but we have few chance to meet Media except Japan.
  • It is very important for Lang-8 to have PR in other countries, but we have few chances to meet the media except in Japan. (Last time i checked, PR in english is a noun meaning "public relations.")

  • I wish we can join TechCrunch50 next year.
  • I hope we can join TechCrunch50 next year. (Saying "wish" would therefore then make "can" into "could" which would therefore imply that it is very unlikely [or impossible] that you will.)

I can't say that media attention would do Lang-8 much justice in america. Since language learning is considered difficult, it's not very popular... It wouldn't hurt lang-8, but you wouldn't be able to beat the ever famous Rosetta Stone software package. If you're worried about getting more people interested in lang-8, you need teachers to be impressed by it, therefore then suggesting to (or even requiring it of) their students. Best thing here would then be for people already here on lang-8 to suggest it to their teachers.

You must also become aware, however, that more users means more trouble and maybe even a few trolls (people who like attention and therefore cause trouble). It also means that there'll be more free users than paid users. It's easier to ask a small site's users for money than a large commercial one. A large one lets users think, "eh, i'll let the next guy donate."

However, if it does get big, it's possible that you could get donations from non-profit organizations trying to support free projects that improve the world.
